The Hacienda is alive… and it wants Beatriz
The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas
A story of a young woman trying to secure her future after the Mexican War of Independence, ready to take on her new station as Doña Beatriz of San Isidro. But this Hacienda is not the sanctuary she was hoping for. Haunting visions, whispers, possession. The Hacienda is built on generations of colonial violence and it means to claim more victims.
This was a shoot that I had in my head the entire time I was reading this book. I actually read it a few years back while we were living in Virginia. It spooked me! It wasn’t until we moved to San Antonio that I was finally able to bring it to life thanks to the culture. Definitely add this book to your TBR or suggest it to your book club. is an amazing storyteller and does a great job of blending history with hauntings.

So thankful for the families that let me spend time with them. 🤍 We laugh, play, and sometimes get a little crazy 🤪 But a lot of my family sessions are just me encouraging and observing.
Toddlers being toddlers? Here, play with some bubbles. 🫧
Sisters checking out hair and makeup? Let me get a shot of that.
Let’s get comfy on the couch and tell each other what we want for dinner. Lol

I always make sure to get the picture that the grandparents will hang on the wall- the “look at the camera and smile” 😊 But the rest is for me to highlight your family dynamic- the way you love each other 🥰 And some might think that’s nothing special to show-off, but trust me… when you are looking through your gallery you’ll see the love and then you’ll understand why these sessions are so important. 🥹

is the perfect place to show off that family bond. 🥰 An intimate place to relax and be yourself! It’s always so fun watching the kids explore and play in this space! Cant wait to be back in the fall!
