Somehow LIV𓄂𓆃 let me gaff our wedding

First of all, this was absolutely the most amazing day ever. Everything was perfect. Liv and I really wanted to add elements to our wedding that felt like us, so naturally I wanted to create a whole dive bar within our wedding.

It started with the truck, then the neon signs came, and the bistro lights soon after, but to really sell it, I wanted it to be filled with some deep red lighting, so I began putting up Aputure storm 80c’s pointing down. I used a bunch of Kondor Blue | Camera Gear cinejaws to get these rigged. And then to give a blanket of light over everything I used a 600c ii from far using barn doors/honeycomb to control it.

So ultimately, 4x 80c’s and 1x 600cii were used. But the catch was, it was looting all weekend long, so I had to let these lights stay out there for DAYS In the dumping rain, and they all held up beautifully.

You ever wondered what color these things are? There’s always a time when we need to recreate real environment lighting even when it’s “ugly”

Delta Air Lines if you ever wondered the color temperature of your embraer 175 it’s 3600k and kinda green

You better not be shooting without doing any preproduction….

Recently I’ve learned about Adobe firefly boards and have been using it on some projects to create moodboards and any prepro assets, and been very pleased with it.

Comment “Prepro” and I’ll send you a link!

Pro Beer league???? Sounds contradicting.. Utah Glizzies Hockey Club is my Beer league team with NHL quality merch and Beer league skills

Lighting for this was a blast. Had Brandon Talbot come hang out on this and jam with his RED Digital Cinema Monstro and Atlas Lens Co. Mercuries. All the lights were gridded to keep control. Overhead was the KNOWLED f800 mat, and accented to each side for edges were Aputure 80c and 4’ infinibar

The secret sauce to high key lighting…

I put a full video out breaking this down on my YouTube, but to sum it up, when doing high key, brighter commercial work, you don’t want to wash out your contrast, you want to change your contrast ratios. I used a handful of Aputure here , 1200x for sun, 1000c for book light key, novas to create harder accents.

We needed a quick edge light, but I wanted it far enough away so it didn’t feel sourcey… the 9 degree has so much output and versatility from a direct hard source to spreading the beam with the dome, which is exactly what I did for this shot to spread the light evenly throughout the space
