Doing this all winter long

The hardest part about a natural looking sunlight is balancing your added light with your windows outdoors. Too dim of a light, it looks fake. But with that means you unfortunately need more power. The KNOWLED MG4K uses ALL of a household circuit (20a) pulling about 2300w, and packs PUNCH.

It came with open wiring, so at least for now I wired it with a nema 5-20 plug to fit into 20a circuits, but honestly I’ll probably require / get a second option and run it with 60a bates or twist lock.

Green screen or blue screen 👀

This was a job I gaffed on. We knew we were swapping out the background so the only lighting that mattered was on our talent and on the chroma screen. For our talent we wanted to give a sunny day feel but with more control. Nothing crazy but used the 6x6 and 4x4 to cut out sun and then use the Nanlux 2400b to shape how we wanted it, then used bounce for shadow side return

The chromas, we angled in a way we weren’t getting many shadows to maintain a clean key

These things do everything don’t they?

Before you say it I never worked for design these as a replacement for a Cardellini or Mathellini. I still use them all the time, but along with many other camera/accessory rigging, you can combine CineJaws and CinePins to get the same use, as you would the traditional clamps, but these just do much much more

The PolarPro® Everyday filter is a filter made in collaboration with Garrett King to combine both Mist, to bloom highlights, and CPL, to cut reflections and add depth to colors.

A very pleasant look imo and would love to use this with stills and film photography as well

This is a huge jump from the DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

Honestly I never really used my OP3, just cause it had a weird look that I truly felt my iPhone did a better job than it. But DJI recently launched the Osmo Pocket 4 with significant upgrades.

This is the PolarPro® Goldstache filter, which is designed to combine a CPL with and GOLD mist, which in turn creates this very vintage halation. The CPL is what makes this unique , keeping contrast and cutting through reflections

The secret sauce to high key lighting…

I put a full video out breaking this down on my YouTube, but to sum it up, when doing high key, brighter commercial work, you don’t want to wash out your contrast, you want to change your contrast ratios. I used a handful of Aputure here , 1200x for sun, 1000c for book light key, novas to create harder accents.
