Who doesn’t love a tidy rig

Been playing a lot with this Pyxis 12k. A lot I like and a lot I don’t, but more pro’s than cons. Super simple barebones run gun Cine setup. baseplate and gold mount plate, gold mount 150’s .official mantis glass looks fantastic with 3:2 sensor, all going thru .official poco to get internal nd. Used the Blackmagic monitor up top and everything lives on stix forever

This can’t not look good tbh

Was playing around getting some pickup shots for a very special project, and needed some hood mount stuff, lent me his kit which worked great for this. Had a with some sweet super tak photo lenses to get this look

Easy fix!

Came across a tight corner the other day and combatted that with an .lighting MC pro with a bubble on it and mounted it using my x cinejaws! Link in bio for them hehe

Red neon is timeless… even if it’s not real neon…..

Full breakdown is live on my YouTube go check it out, BUT

This was a very simple but beautiful little setup. 2 lights and that’s all. I wanted a feeling like the trucks were basking in a neon glow, but the catch was… we didn’t have a neon building… so I faked it with .lighting nova ii 1x1 and put it to deeeep red. Then I used the infinibar 4’ to just wrap it around on the close ups, and then used headlights and the lighter for practical pazzazzz.

I also used the Pyxis 12k (at 4k) with the .official mantis’ 1.33x. The Pyxis struggled a little with such deep reds, but I brought the sat waaaay back in color and it held up just fine.

Not to be dramatic but it feels like Alexa for sub $6k…

Yall know I love the Pyxis 6k for what it is, but dynamic range was one of the big drawbacks for me on bigger jobs. I learned recently how much reach the 12k has and immediately was interested. I don’t need 12k, I barely need 6k, but I’d get this camera for image alone and scale down to 4k almost every time. 12/9/8/4k all use the full sensor which is fantastic, and with much faster readout for those who worry about Pyxis 6k rolling shutter

Slow mo means lottta light

Shot this food commercial where we were running the at 1000fps , which means our shutter had to be at 1/2000s. Which is over 5 stops DARKER than your standard 1/50s. Meaning we needed a lot of light.

Using .lighting 1200x / 700x / 400x we switched in the high speed mode in the menu which is VERY IMPORTANT to not get flicker. This allows up to I believe 1/4000s shutter. The nova 9 doesn’t need to switch in to the high speed mode, and is good to go up to 2000fps.

If you’re shooting high speed, don’t underestimate how much light you need.

don’t sleep on the NOVA
lighting and their Nova II family is a huge improvement. They’ve got the 1x1, 2x1 and the 9 degree as well, all of which I’m in love with.

What’re your thoughts on them?

Making filmmakers guess the hue with the new cs32
lighting just announced the CS32. Full color, BLAIR-CG, and 4k hmi equivalent of output. One thing the was awesome to me is that you can power also with 15/20a Edison and it auto limits output.

Really excited for this fixture
