“Hey- uh, if I got a Psy suit could I do Gangnam Style at your wedding?”

Me, thinking it was a joke, “haha, sure!”

It was not a joke. I have never laughed so hard. Trying to explain to someone how wonderful is- there is never a good enough adjective. I wasn’t a fan of weddings. I hated all the social cues that I didn’t understand. I wanted my friends to celebrate and have fun.

And he made that happen.

Some shots from a shoot I got to do a few weeks ago at a Millenium Falcon set built by for an upcoming fan film. As can be expected from a set, the natural lighting was so nice, especially for armored cosplays. 👌🏼

There is something so profundly human in going from such heartbreaking grief to equally powerful joy in such a short period of time.

Dragon Con 2024 was the best Dragon Con of all the eight years I've attended. And it was 100% because of the people I shared it with. Just some of the many highlights included:

-Giving Chef Kameel and his staff the friendship bracelets I made and seeing how much the community loves Chef Kameel and how much Chef Kameel sincerely loves us.

-Meeting Astronaut Cady Coleman and actually getting to talk with her and take pictures for her.

-Catching up with old friends I only ever see once a year at this con and seeing how time and distance does little to hinder friendships with good people.

-Hanging out with my friends from Utah, whether for just a few minutes at the dolphin show or for hours late into the night in the bowels of the Marriott.

-Making new friends while standing in lines or attending cosplay meetups and panels.

-Leading a newbie tour for the first time and trying to make two dozen people's first Dragon Con something to remember. Follow the cat, and don't get caught by the dino!

-Joining the cosplay medics and finding the community so welcoming with open arms.

-Participating in the parade for the first time with old and new friends.

-Volunteering for the Kids Track Character Encounter for what I think is the fifth or sixth year.

And so much more.

Every day was a new high. A new reminder of the beauty of living and of loving other people, even if inevitably those same relationships will one day cause us grief and pain.

It is worth it to love.

So here's to all the people who made these last three weeks of incredible heartbreak not only bearable but utterly beautiful.

I miss my dad so much. I wish he were here so I could tell him about everything that's happened over the last few weeks since he's been gone. But a part of him will always be here in its own way. He taught me that the most valuable part of life is the people we share it with. So thank you for sharing mine.

Summer has fully set in now and I miss spring. I also almost miss it's random rain and hail showers on my photoshoots. 😹 It's wild that we had so many different weather situations in the few hours we were out doing this shoot, but everyone was a trooper and we came out with lovely shots like these ones.
