To my daughter, as you graduate:
I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday.The doctor handed you to us and we just stared at you, in awe. You stared back at us with those big beautiful eyes. So alert and curious, already ready to take on the world.
Our whole world changed that day. We fell so in love with you. I didn't know you could love someone that much! And our love for you deepened our love for each other. You made us a family. We brought you home from the hospital, and I had never seen your daddy drive so slow. What an amazing gift and responsibility we were given as parents.
Even as a toddler, you were full of s***k! Always eager to learn, ready to make new friends, and try something new. You talked to everyone we walked by in the grocery store. I knew you wouldn't be the kid to cry at kindergarten drop off.
We have watched you win trophies, make honor rolls, play sports, and instruments, but my favorite thing is not what you've done, but who you are becoming. God has made you unlike anyone l've ever known. It brings tears to my eyes to think about the beautiful, kind hearted woman you are becoming.
You have an incredible ability to see value in everyone and everything. Others might walk by a girl sitting alone, but not you. You are the first to say hello, to smile, to compliment, to offer help. You call out the good and beautiful things you see in others. You invite, and share, and spread kindness everywhere you go. You are a bright light to every room you walk into. Like the song we used to sing daily when you were little, You really are my sunshine.
You may be grown, but I still see the same bright eyed girl. Full of giggles, eager for adventure, quick to forgive, and always ready to dance. My heart isn't at all ready to let you go, but I know you will continue to walk in faith, letting God lead you. Know that your family is here for you. We will be praying for you every day, cheering you on. I can’t wait to see what God has in store your life.
