St Pete Pride
June 28th, 2025 St. Pete Florida

Last June, in the midst of moving and changing jobs, my partner and I were lucky enough to make it to pride this year in St. Pete.

With colors and music filling the moment while food trucks serve in the background, this was nothing short of a wonderful time expressing love, acceptance, and a desire to be authentic. These photos cover only a glimpse of the parade that strolled through Bayshore, but the sights were unforgettable.

Can't wait to be there next time.

More photos from April 26th's Chevron Boycott organized by in central Tampa off N Boulevard and Columbus Drive. It's great to see people getting engaged locally by concerns within their community. 2025 is really becoming the year of protest.

Bay Lobelia

These tiny little blooms are always a welcome sight on sore eyes. Hugging close to the ground and flowering no more than a couple inches to a foot tall, these are easy to overlook. It wasn't till I took a further look did I notice the "ears" on these beauties.

Like sage buds resting in dappled sun, our blooms will return soon. Fields of pinks and yellows rich with nature's boon, love again will fill the room. Stay brave in wait for the season's moves.

Had a blast at the recent WLP photography club meeting. The Wednesday session was focused on the separate priority modes on our cameras. We focused on shooting in Auto primarily and switching profiles to have more dynamic control. Was an absolute blast practicing on some low-light garden beds. I'll be sharing more pics in the next few days. I've been in a rut photography wise since my favorite bird/fungi lens has broken, but this was a good reminder that a kit lens can still delivered.

Ill be honest as a nature photographer, I barely take my rig off of shutter priority, but with diversifying my styles, I will be experimenting with the Aperature priority going forward as well.

I had the pleasure of visiting the other week and was able to capture the process of cultivating and delivering consistent, high-quality nutritious greens locally. With growth in mind for 2025 and quality to back it up, Bardmoor Greens is the go-to microgreen business in the Tampa Bay area.

The effort put into creating healthy, clean microgreens is second to none. Coupled with automation and data analytics, Marcus ensures a green that bites back both flavor wise and nutritionally. I'll be sharing more of these soon.

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the meeting near Orlando, Florida, for a foray event. The groups event was hosted by local myco powerhouses and as we covered sound collection practices to follow county regulations. The walk was split between a dry and wet walk depending on if your boots and waders were up for the challenge.

Despite not being a prolific weekend for myco finds, there were surprises and finds that brought a cheer to the group. I learned a lot, made a couple of friends, and had a blast. I'm looking forward to the next one!
Pictured above is an immature Hedgehog mushroom (the dark red color of the hymenium is fascinating in contrast to the pale teeth of a mature one).

A fungus colonizing a twig, forming what appears to be the beginnings of pores, potentially a bracket fungus.

A collection of believed mycenas from the shadow of a mossy log before being stowed away for sample sequencing.

Both on the trail and the chats after our foray were the utmost pleasure. Highly recommend any local mycologist or fungus friends to check them out!

More Pine Warbler photos from the other week. Some parts of these photos are out of focus, but Im very happy with how these turned out. A 300mm lens makes tough at times but I'm happy I was able to capture this warbler's patterns. .
