I've been wrestling with this decision for a few months. I think a lot of family photographers have been as well. It might feel like a trend right now but I think what you're seeing is the humanity of our industry.
A.I. is getting more and more scary. And my top priority as a photographer is to always make my clients feel safe. A federal court in Wisconsin recently ruled that explicit AI generated images of children were ok. And I am not ok with that, or the idea of someone taking a photo from my socials or site to alter and misuse. Keeping you all safe is more important to me than easy marketing.
So what's changing for you? Nothing. You'll have the same experience, same gallery, with maybe a few more faceless photos to choose from. You can still post your photos as you feel comfortable (no judgment if you choose to post kids).
What's changing for me? It's easy to sell photo sessions when you have galleries of smiling kids to share. This change will just require a bit more creativity and storytelling. And that's a challenge I'll happily accept. I'm working on what this means for seniors - right now things will stay the same but that might change as well.
How can you help? Word of mouth has always been my best marketing but now will mean so much more. If you loved your photos, if your session was more laughter than eye rolls, if you left feeling seen and celebrated - tell your friends, share my booking link, engage with posts and stories. 💕
Thank you all for trusting me to tell your stories. Forever honored to get to do this with you all.
