Tiny explorer, giant feet, and a world full of wonder. šŸ–¤šŸ’š
This little Purple Gallinule chick stayed close behind its parents as it carefully stepped across the lily pads… completely unaware that it had a tiny passenger hitching a ride. Look closely and you’ll spot a ladybug attached to its leg — one of those small wild moments that makes nature photography so rewarding. šŸž

After three nesting attempts, this resilient female Great Horned Owl finally became a mother. šŸ¦‰

For the past two seasons, she chose an old owl tree with a deep indentation that unfortunately flooded during heavy Florida rains. Each time, the nest failed. But this year, after 2 unsuccessful attempt, she made a change — moving to a nearby tree and starting over once again.

Great Horned Owls typically begin nesting in December or January, making this April hatch especially unusual and inspiring. Against the odds, one tiny owlet finally emerged.
A reminder that nature is full of persistence, adaptation, and second chances. šŸ’›

The black skimmers are back on Florida’s Gulf Coast — and this June, I’ll be teaching photographers how to capture their incredible flight, feeding behavior, nesting activity, and dramatic golden-hour action images.

This hands-on workshop is designed for photographers who want to improve bird photography skills in the field while learning camera settings, tracking techniques, composition, and ethical wildlife photography practices. Whether you’re new to bird photography or looking to sharpen your skills, this is an amazing opportunity to photograph one of Florida’s most fascinating coastal birds.

Come experience the beauty of the Gulf Coast while creating powerful wildlife images alongside other passionate photographers. Limited spots available. Click on bio or DM for details and registration.

This Great horned female owl (affectionately named Dory by the locals) is on a third try of the season. She finally have a little one (named Hope). Dad (Odie) is watching from a tall tree making sure she has food for herself and the little one. This is their third year trying for owlets. The first two years, they chose a nest site that at one point flooded with heavy rain and killed their three babies. They finally make a change for a new nest site. She only has one owlet to feed. We are all very hopeful.

In the early weeks of life, a Sandhill crane c**t stays close—never more than a few steps—from its parents. 🐣 Tall on fragile legs and covered in soft cinnamon down, it learns quickly by watching and following. Every movement matters: where to forage, when to freeze, how to stay safe in a world full of hidden dangers.

The parents are always alert, guiding and protecting with quiet devotion, their calls soft but constant. These first weeks are a delicate balance of vulnerability and growth—where instinct, patience, and family shape the c**t’s future in the wild. 🌿
