39 years ago today, July 31, 1987, The Lost Boys premiered in theaters.
Jason Patric starred as Michael Emerson, who moves with his younger brother Sam, played by Corey Haim, and their divorced mother, played by Dianne Wiest, to the fictional California town of Santa Carla, only to discover it is a haven for vampires. Kiefer Sutherland played David, leader of the local vampire gang, with Jami Gertz as Star, Barnard Hughes as the boys' grandfather, and Edward Herrmann as Max. Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander rounded out the cast as the vampire hunting Frog brothers.
Joel Schumacher directed the film from a screenplay by Jeffrey Boam, Janice Fischer, and James Jeremias, produced by Harvey Bernhard for Warner Bros. Made on a budget of 8.5 million dollars, it grossed over 32 million dollars and has since become a cult classic.
