It’s so bizarre, the entanglement of divine love and ordinariness found in motherhood. I think that’s what surprised me most about it. In every fussy night and defiant day there’s this quiet call - to love at the expense of your own self. Sounds a hell of a lot more romantic than it feels, but it seems that in this mysterious and often painful intersection, true love is somehow found. So, thank you Eli boy, for taking me deeper into love than I ever thought I could go.

And, y’all, let me tell you - Springtime with a toddler is a surprising amount of fun. I get to enjoy an Easter egg hunt again soon for the first time in 25 years and I’m legitimately looking forward to it.

When I first sat down with David and Elizabeth to talk about their wedding, they hesitantly shared their sincere reservations about getting their photos taken..because they’re “just so awkward in front of the camera”. I then assured them they had nothing to worry about, that it was my job to capture the most beautiful moments, and reminded them to lean into this experience as an opportunity to ENJOY being with one another.

These two then went home and spent an entire evening PRACTICING their smiles and poses together, which then allowed them to feel so much more confident and prepared, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY - have FUN at their engagement session!
Engagement sessions are such a perfect primer for the wedding day - setting couples up with confidence in front of the camera to BE THEMSELVES, together 💛
