🎪 Every Place Has a Story: The Ringling | Sarasota

Some stories are preserved in museums. Others are tucked away in boxes in our closets.

A visit to The Ringling is a beautiful reminder of what happens when someone decides a story is worth saving. Art, photographs and objects from another time let us experience pieces of the past that might otherwise have disappeared.

And while we were making a new memory of our own, a couple of scoops from Detwiler’s Farm Market made the day even sweeter. 🍨 It got us thinking about the collections our families have, too.

That VHS tape of Christmas morning. The 8mm film from your grandparents’ backyard. Slides from a family vacation. Photographs of people whose voices you can still hear when you see their faces.

The road trips we’ll never forget. 🚗❤️

Windows down. The radio playing. Kids packed into the backseat. Roadside attractions, unexpected detours, and stops that somehow became some of our favorite memories.

The Firehouse Cultural Center, Ruskin, FL has been part of Ruskin’s story for generations. Today, it continues to bring people together through art, performances and community—while preserving a piece of SouthShore history.

Of course, we couldn’t resist making a new memory while we were there, too. A couple of Culver's milkshakes seemed like the perfect addition. 🥤❤️

☀️ Don’t Let Heat Damage Your Memories

Here in Florida, we think a lot about protecting ourselves from the heat and humidity—but what about the memories stored in our attics, garages and storage spaces?

Old photographs, videotapes, film reels, slides and negatives can all be affected by prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity. And unlike many things we own, those family memories may be impossible to replace.

Take a moment this week to think about where your collection is stored. Move important originals to a cool, dry, climate-controlled area—and consider digitizing the memories you never want to lose.

🏆🐈 You saw the award. Now meet the star - - Captain Jack!

Earlier this week, we shared that our “Capturing the Moment” video received the 2026 Hanley Award for Best Backlot Video Production.

Now we'd like you to meet the rather unconventional leading man who helped us win it.

Jack is our traveling cat—and when this year's competition challenged us to create a one-minute film around the theme “Capturing the Moment,” we decided to see the world through his eyes.

What started as a fun idea became something that captures a philosophy we really believe in:

That's Jack.

He's curious. He's adventurous. He travels with us. And he has a way of noticing things the rest of us might walk right past.
