It's not a secret that happiness equals harmony with yourself, and harmony without self-love is simply impossible. The quality of our life ultimately depends on how much we value and protect ourselves, take care of our desires and needs. But it is not always easy to love yourself, the path to self-love and appreciation can be long and difficult.

I want to share with you a few interesting books that can help to shorten this path:

“Love for Imperfect Things: How to Accept Yourself in a World Striving for Perfection”, Haemin Sunim. Book of spiritual wisdom about learning to love ourselves, with all our imperfections. When you care for yourself first, the world begins to find you worthy of care.

“Self-care for the real world”, Nadia Narain, Katia Narain Phillips. Wellness pioneers Nadia Narain and Katia Narain Phillips they share the small, achievable steps they picked up on a lifetime’s journey towards self-care, and how you can apply them to your life, wherever you are.

“The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are”, Brené Brown. A motivational and inspiring guide to wholehearted living, rather than just the average self-help book, with this groundbreaking work Brené Brown, Ph.D., bolsters the self-esteem and personal development process through her characteristic heartfelt, honest storytelling.

“Love Yourself And It Doesn't Matter Who You Marry”, Eva-Maria Zurhorst. This extraordinary book shows that a deep relationship is possible even when all hope seems to be lost. What ever the problem is, the solution lies in finding love for yourself. Eva-Maria's powerful techniques and ideas will change the way you look at your relationships and yourself forever.

“The Universe Has Your Back: Transform Fear to Faith”, Gabrielle Bernstein. This book teaches readers how to transform their fear into faith in order to live a divinely guided life. Each story and lesson in the book guides readers to release the blocks to what they most long for: happiness, security, and clear direction.

Self-care is the foundation of our emotional and physical well-being. But what does it mean to really take care of yourself? Here are four simple rules that will help us to take care of ourselves in difficult life circumstances.

✔️CARING FOR YOURSELF INVOLVES THE ABILITY TO TALK WITH YOURSELF
The ability to talk, to find a common language with yourself largely determines our mood, affects the level of stress and whether we feel depressed, control the situation. The choice is yours.

✔️DISTRACTION MAY BE USEFUL, BUT ONLY FOR A WHILE
When emotions go wild or you are squeezed like a lemon, any more activities or attempts to digest your experiences may require too much cost. At such times, it’s really useful just to switch.

✔️FIND WAYS TO REWORK YOUR EXPERIENCE EMOTIONALLY
Balance the usual distractions with activities that will help you sort out the experiences and process them. Still, caring for yourself implies the need from time to time to think about the circumstances that cause stress and to meet with the negative emotions that accompany it. In order to understand whether the activity that you have chosen turned out to be effective, ask yourself: “Have I gained access to my thoughts and feelings? Did you see a better perspective for solving your problem? Did you feel relief and emotional release as a result of these actions? ”If the answer is yes, then you have found something wonderful.

✔️TAKE CARE OF YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH
By showing attention to our body, taking care of our well-being, we show that we value ourselves, that our life is important to us. It does not take a lot of time and money. Maintaining an internal conversation, taking care of your health and maintaining a balance in actions that distract and help work out emotions, you will find yourself on the right path to a good harmonious life.

There is a great book - "Hygge: the secret of Danish happiness", by Meik Wiking. As the name states, the author tells about the secrets of happiness of the Danes.

The concept of "hugge" cannot be translated literally into English. For the Danes, this is a unique combination of comfort and well-being.

According to opinion polls, Danes are the happiest people in Europe. They regularly meet with friends and family and always feel a sense of peace and tranquility. How to follow that? There are not so many secrets.

✔️MAKE YOUR HOME AND OFFICE COZY
Danish design is minimalist. In the interior Danes prefer light colors: white, grey, dusty blue. They pay a lot of attention to soft lighting, often use candles (even during the day), and they decorate the house with cute details. These little things create the atmosphere of coziness and comfort. The Danes prefer natural materials. Tactile sensations are also important.

✔️INVITE YOUR GUESTS
Communication with friends and family on social networks will never replace real. Hygge can be fully experienced only in a circle of close people with whom you can relax and be yourself. It is better to meet them at home, not in a cafe or restaurant.

✔️LEARN HOW TO COOK
Cozy home gatherings mean a tasty treat. To feel Hygge you need to learn how to bake delicious pies with cinnamon, cook stew, spicy mulled wine and hot chocolate. In addition, cooking food in Danish – it means to enjoy the calmness and all the stages of the process.

✔️BECOME MORE ACTIVE
The Danes love delicious and satisfying eats, but they do not suffer by obesity. The secret lies in the active lifestyle. And it's not a grueling workout at the fitness club. It is a movement (mostly outdoors) that brings fun. Family walks in the mountains, Nordic walking, and bicycle rides.

✔️WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES
Sneakers and loafers instead of heels, cozy oversize coat instead of short jackets, hoodies, warm sweaters, soft scarves, long cardigans, slacks, etc. All of these of course made of natural, touch pleasant fabrics.

I would like to share with you some useful tips on how to take a nice selfie. Here we go:

✔️Hold the camera slightly above your eye level for a flattering shot. When you're taking a selfie, it's usually most flattering if you hold the camera up and angle it slightly downward. Then, look up into the camera, lifting your eyebrows slightly. That will give you a wide-eyed, fresh look that's picture-perfect.

✔️Play around with different angles to add variety to your feed. While the top-down look is a great angle for most people, don't be afraid to experiment with different shots.

✔️Turn so you're facing into the light. Just like if someone else is taking a picture of you, you'll get the most flattering glow if you angle your face toward the nearest light source. Just be sure to avoid direct sunlight, which can leave harsh shadows on your face.

✔️Lengthen your neck and sit or stand up straight. Lift your head and neck, and push your shoulders down. This will create a long line that will emphasize the curve of your neck and shoulders.

✔️Exhale softly to make your lips look full and relaxed. To keep your mouth relaxed, gently blow air through your lips right before you snap the picture. Try squinting your eyes slightly to mimic the way your eyes crinkle when you smile naturally.

✔️Take a lot of shots, then study them to discover your best angles. Snap as many pictures as you can stand to, making tiny changes in your facial expression and the angles of your head and body.

✔️Look for interesting backdrops to include in your selfies. Don't just recreate the same shot all the time. Instead, take selfies in a wide variety of different spots, and try to include at least a little of the background in the frame. That way, every selfie will offer something new to the viewer and it's a great way to keep track of your favorite experiences, too.

Did you guys know that the first new pier in Hudson River Park in more than a decade is now open to the public and it's bringing Manhattan's wetlands back.

Visitors to Pier 26, which is situated between Hubert and Nore Moore streets in Tribeca, can sunbathe on its lounge chairs, take tours of its "tide deck" planted with native shrubs, trees and grasses, and stroll its elevated, cantilevered walkway above the deck to get spectacular city and river views.

The new pier also has a sunning lawn, a sports court for children’s play, and multiple lounge areas for enjoying river views. The opening comes at the perfect time when New Yorkers are living their lives outside as often as they can.

The pier's short habitat walk leads visitors through five native ecological zones: woodland forest, coastal grassland, maritime scrub, rocky tidal zone, and the Hudson River. The River Project will help offer guided tours and educational experiences of the Hudson River shoreline and its plantings.

Pier 26 is also home to City Vineyard restaurant and wine bar and Downtown Boathouse, which offers free kayaking.

The Hudson River Park Trust says that the area to the east of the pier will also get a 4,000-square-foot science-themed playground, designed by OLIN and with play features by the Danish playground design firm Monstrum, that will have "larger-than-life" play features in the forms of native and endangered sturgeon species found in the Hudson River. There are also plans for an estuarium, a research and education center featuring live Hudson River fish, next to this playground that will be run by the Trust’s River Project. It's still in its fundraising stage.

Enjoy your weekend ❤️

We choose a lipstick based on what kind of manicure we have, the color of clothing or accessories, the time of year, weather or mood. Have you ever thought of what this choice actually says about your personality?

The company COVERGIRL surveyed women about their lipstick and lifestyle habits, finding that the more often you wear lipstick, the more confident you are. Women who gloss up more than four days per week not only feel better about themselves, but also hold more senior positions at work than ladies who keep their lips au natural. Women who wear lipstick are going on nearly three times as many dates compared to the plain-lipped.

Just as important as the decision to don lipstick, though, is which color to choose. COVERGIRL actually previously partnered with Harvard psychologists to look at how cosmetic combinations impact the way people judge a woman's attractiveness and personality, even unconsciously. And, along with the new survey results, the brand found each shade determines what kind of woman you're telling the world you are.

Red rockers are deemed more creative and daring by others. They are also the most likely to be out of the house and at a bar on a Saturday night. They're most likely to exercise at least five times a week.

Pink lipstick wearers are perceived as more sociable and fun-loving. But pink is also the color of power: Senior executives are more likely to own a shade of pink, whereas more junior ladies wear plums or n**es.

Plum puckers allow women to seem more independent and self-sufficient. Women who wear berry shades scored on the more mellow side of all survey questions, as they stay home on the weekends, rarely post selfies, and own the least number of shoes compared to other shade wearers.

N**e lips help women seem more warm and caring, which is why psychologists recommend trying a n**e shade for that first date or a night out with good friends. Plus, you get the perks of the women who wear lipstick most often (like more confidence) while emphasizing your natural coloring.

What's your favorite lipstick color?
