When I originally scheduled this post, I had something totally different in mind for a caption. While I may use it on a future post, I decided right now wasn't the time to use it.

Instead, I decided earlier this week to pivot and use this post to let everyone know I'll be taking a break from posting on this page.

I've been really busy with real estate work (by the end of the week, I'll be just about to 200 properties for the year) and haven't had time to get out and shoot for this page like I'd like. Rather than recycle old photos and content, I figured it would be a good time to take a step back, refresh, and come back in a little bit with some new work to share.

While I really enjoy the work I do, it is incredibly draining in just about every aspect of the word. Working for yourself is incredibly rewarding, but also takes a pretty big toll on you as I've learned growing this business to heights I never imagined.

Thankfully, it does also provide opportunities like this one to step back, make changes, and go from there.

Thank you all so much for your support, and I'll be back posting new work before you know it!

Catch you later!

Good morning all!

I recently got out to explore a little bit one morning, and in a clearing came across this beautiful cardinal perched on what is left of a tree branch. It sat perfectly in the morning sunlight, and posed for some photos before I let it be as I continued my walk.

This is probably my favorite cardinal photo that I've been captured, and can't believe I was lucky enough to get it sitting still that long.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Happy Monday everyone!

We're flying into the new week like this red-winged blackbird I caught flying over the marsh at Savage's Ditch a few weeks ago.

I hadn't initially planned to capture it in flight, but rather perched onto one of the marsh grasses. Before I could get myself set up, it took off, but I'm glad it did. This shot came out pretty well considering the circumstances!

In addition to the coast guard vessels, no trip to the south side of Indian River Inlet is complete without a few shots of the jetty marker.

The waves kept crashing over the marker and wall on a rough day along the coast, but it made for some really nice moody shots like this one.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Remember the reel I shared a few weeks ago of the Coast Guard vessels coming back into Indian River Inlet after doing some training?

Here are a few stills I captured at that same time!

It was really cool seeing them going out and coming back, but man was I happy to be on dry land at the same time 😅

Here's one more angle of the screech owl from this morning's post to show how closely it was keeping an eye on me.

You can see that this angle is more from the side, but it turned itself to watch me as I walked along the trail.

Right after snapping this shot, a vulture flew overhead and the owl retreated inside the tree, so the fleeting few minutes I got to spend with the owl were very special - if I had arrived just a little bit later, I wouldn't have gotten to see it at all.

And that's why you always keep a long lens in your camera bag!

I couldn't believe my luck when I spotted this grey-morph screech owl a few weeks ago. Whenever I'm walking certain local trails, I look for holes like this one in trees as they make great nests for these little owls. This one happened to be occupied, and the little bit of head movement it made to watch me was enough to let me know it was there.

I won't disclose the location of the nest in an effort to keep the bird from betting too much attention, but it was definitely a nice surprise and one I hope to experience again soon!

Here's another surfer shot from that day at Indian River Inlet, but this time I had driven over to the south side.

I looked over and watched the surfer catch a wave from across the inlet, and liked the composition with the northside jetty as a foreground element.

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Surfing into April!

2026 needs to slow down a little bit - it doesn't feel like we should already be starting the fourth month of the year, but here we are!

A couple weeks ago on a rare day off I stopped at Indian River Inlet where two surfers were enjoying the waves on a rough day. These are some of my favorite shots from the day.
