Heya! I’m Dani Kolman —the photographer behind Dani Kolman Photography.
This all began as a passion project rooted in my love for capturing the quiet, fleeting moments with our furry companions— the ones that are easy to overlook but impossible to replace. The soft glances, the muddy paws, the pause before the chaos. The moments we wish we could suspend in time forever.
Photographing dogs and cats wasn’t always the plan. It started with an iPhone tucked into my pocket on hikes, fishing trips, and hunting adventures with my partner, documenting life as it happened. Along the way, I began photographing my family’s memories and creating content for Unleashed Manners Dog Training, and I realized I didn’t want to be just another photographer or a marketing voice behind the scenes.
Every person and every critter that steps in front of my lens carries a story worth telling. I focus on the details as much as the big picture, because those details are what bring memories to life. My goal is for you to look through your gallery and not just see images, but feel the story unfolding — one that’s complete enough to fill an album and meaningful enough to last.
Growing up in the Driftless Region, surrounded by bluffs that rise to the sky and open up to rivers, I learned to notice and cherish the small, delicate moments — the way the morning sun glimmers on the Wisconsin River, the scent of rain on a dirt road, the gentle sway of cornfields, or the quiet stillness of the woods and open plains. It instilled in me a deep love and respect for the land and a constant awareness of the beauty that surrounds us.
That way of seeing shapes everything I do as a photographer: I capture the fleeting, everyday moments that make each story unique, preserving the little details with care so that the memory and feeling linger long after the moment has passed.
When I’m not behind the camera, I work full-time in healthcare or I’m out adventuring with my five dogs — often fishing or hunting alongside my partner— collecting all the boops, tail wags, and muddy paw prints along the way. We often spend our time outdoors, testing wood-fired pizza recipes, and working closely with local animal shelters.
Thanks for being here and tell your dog I said i!
