So as you know, I shipped my telescope to a remote observatory in Texas (Rockwood, TX) . While I have super clear/dark skies here in western Maine (some of the darkest in the country!) We do not get all that many clear nights! In central Texas they get 200+ clear nights a year!

These images are courtesy of (Owner of StarFront Observatories)! It shows the 5 buildings they currently have. The close up is my scope, then in one of the drone shots I have circled mine in blue!

Starfront is now the largest remote observatory by number of scopes present in the world, and they are just getting started! Hope to make it down there in person some day to see it in person!

I am already blown away by how dark the skies are, and how clear they are!

Cool spot in Topsham/Brunswick! This is the “Swinging Bridge”. Built in the 1892 as a way for workers to cross the river to get to/from the mill. It’s a suspension bridge, so the decking is not attached at either end a fact you can clearly see if you look down. It does move a bit, thus its name so it’s not for those who are afraid of heights or as a friend put it “Clearly plummeting to ones certain death” 🙂. It is a pretty location tho with great walking trails!

Was hanging out in this area for a few hours shooting the waves/surf crashing into the cliffs, and suddenly this guy sticks his head up from under the rocks and makes his way over to a tide pool that was filling in fast! Wasnt super cooperative with my desire to photograph him, but managed to snap at least one good one before he slinked off!

Sunset last night from Bass Harbor light. Was not much of a crowd there as I expected, it was cloudy all day and spitting rain a bit, but the sun dipped below the clouds just long enough for a great show! Going to start using this page for photos so if you like seeing my work be sure to follow! Thanks! (Will be uploading old stuff eventually too!)
