Thank you again for ALL of the love, support, kind words, and encouragement over the last few days. 🤍 I truly cannot put into words how much it has meant to me.

I also wanted to give a very special thank you to ALL of my past brides who have trusted me to capture such an important day in their lives. To every bride who treated me with respect, kindness, and decency, and who was simply an absolute TREAT to work with — thank you. 🥹🤍

After everything that happened this weekend, I’ll be completely honest… I actually found myself questioning whether this is truly the career I want to pursue for the rest of my life.

Can I take that level of disrespect again?
Can I take being scared at my own job?
Can I take being told that I’m horrible at what I do?

Thank you ALL so much for your kind words, messages, comments, shares, and support. It truly means the world to me. I am still so shaken up over yesterday, and knowing that so many people are in my corner and understand where I am coming from has honestly made me feel so much better. 🤍

I wanted to address one topic that has been brought up A LOT since my post yesterday, and that is the comment that I “need to have it in my contract that I get to eat when they eat.”

Well… I actually DO have this in my contract!

However, this clause specifically applies to weddings that are 8+ hours long. Yesterday’s wedding was a 4-hour wedding, and I covered approximately 3 of those 4 hours before I ultimately had to leave.

For my longer wedding days, I absolutely have a clause in my contract regarding a meal/break for myself. I know that I am human and that after 8+ hours of constantly moving, carrying equipment, taking photos, and being on my feet, I need to have a moment to eat and recharge.

That being said, maybe I should also add something to my contract stating that I am entitled to a minimum 10–20 minute break during shorter wedding days while the guests are eating.

Honestly, it never even occurred to me that I needed to put something like that in my contract because I genuinely thought it was just basic human decency to allow your vendors to sit down for a few minutes when there is nothing happening that requires them to be working.

I am a photographer. I am there to document your day. I am not there to photograph people chewing their food. 😂

I will ALWAYS prioritize capturing the important moments, portraits, details, candids, and everything my couples are actually hiring me to capture. But I am also a human being, and sometimes I need to sit down for a few minutes.

Yesterday was an incredibly difficult situation, and I never expected it to happen. But I am choosing to take what I can from it, learn from it, and make sure my future contracts and expectations are even clearer.

And once again, THANK YOU. Truly. For every message, every kind word, every share, every person who reached out to check on me, and everyone who reminded me that I am not alone in this.

I am incredibly grateful for every single one of you. 🤍

And to my fellow wedding vendors: PLEASE remember that you deserve breaks, respect, kindness, and basic human decency too. You can be incredibly passionate about your job and still need to sit down for 10 minutes. ❤️

I genuinely am so taken aback by what happened today, and honestly, I am terrified that things are going to be said or come out that simply are not true. So I want to explain what happened from my perspective, because I will always stand behind my work and the way I treat my clients.

Today, I showed up to photograph a wedding. That is exactly what I did. I photographed my job. I photographed the moments happening throughout the day, the portraits, the details, the people, and everything I was there to capture. In the three hours I was there, I took over 1,000 photos.

With that being said, there is something I do at every single wedding, and honestly, it is something most of my brides tell me to do: I sit down while everyone eats.

After being on my feet for hours and hours, especially in 90° weather, I sit down for about 20 minutes. That is the only break I typically take during a wedding day. In my professional experience, I have never had a couple tell me they wanted photos of themselves or their guests actively eating. It is simply not something I photograph because it is not appealing or meaningful to the final gallery.

Today, while I was sitting down during that time, I was aggressively tapped on the shoulder by the bride’s father. He proceeded to get in my face, yell at me, and verbally attack me and my business because I was sitting down for a few minutes while nothing was happening that required me to be photographing.

After becoming extremely anxious and uncomfortable, I stepped away and immediately let the bride know that I was no longer comfortable staying. I was then verbally attacked by her as well.

As I walked to my car, the bride’s father cornered me at my vehicle and proceeded to yell at me again. I had to physically shut my car door to get him away from me. He then proceeded to video me as I pulled out of the venue.

I want to make something very clear: I am not sharing this to create drama or to attack anyone. I am sharing it because I think one incredibly important thing gets lost when it comes to wedding vendors.

WE ARE HUMAN.

We deserve human decency. We deserve respect.

We work our BUTTS off all day long to make sure our couples have beautiful memories to look back on. We spend hours on our feet, in the heat, carrying equipment, constantly moving, thinking ahead, watching for moments, and making sure we are giving you the best possible experience and gallery we can.

Please treat your vendors with respect.

I have had one of the hardest years of my life, and I will openly admit that I have not always been on my A-game with communication. I am human. I have had devastating things happen in my personal life that I could never have predicted, and sometimes those things affect us in ways we cannot control.

But despite that, I have always shown up. I have always tried my absolute best. I showed up today. I worked. I photographed over 1,000 images in three hours. I did what I was hired to do.

We cannot predict the future. We cannot control what happens in our lives. Sometimes life gets incredibly difficult, and sometimes those difficulties affect us. That should never mean we stop deserving basic respect and human decency.

To all of my past, current, and future couples: thank you for understanding that behind the camera is a real person who cares deeply about what they do. I am so incredibly grateful for every person who has trusted me to document such an important part of their life.

And to the vendors out there who are exhausted, overwhelmed, or going through something behind the scenes that nobody knows about: I see you. You are human too. ❤️

We’re creeping up on SIX YEARS of K Lynn Photography LLC. 🥹🤍

And honestly… even saying that out loud sounds crazy to me.

Six years of photographing love stories. Six years of meeting the most incredible people. Six years of learning, growing, creating, crying happy tears behind my camera, and somehow getting to call something I love this much my job.

When I was a freshman in high school, I was gifted my first “real” camera — a little Canon Rebel T5. I had absolutely no idea at the time just how much that camera was going to change my life.

Photography was something I had loved since I was little, but that little Canon gave me the opportunity to turn that passion into something real. And eventually, that passion became K Lynn Photography LLC.

Never in a million years would that freshman in high school have believed me if I told her where we would be six years later.

But here we are. 🥹

There have definitely been hard times along the way. There have been moments where I questioned myself, moments where I wondered if this business was going to make it, and moments where running a business felt heavier than I ever imagined it could.

But every single time I doubted it, you guys reminded me why I started.

You showed me that this little dream of mine wasn’t going anywhere.

Every inquiry. Every booking. Every couple who trusts me with one of the biggest days of their lives. Every person who recommends my name in a Facebook group. Every review. Every share. Every person who comes back to me years later. Every bride who turns into a friend.

I notice it all. And I will never, ever take it for granted.

The trust my couples put in me means more than I could ever explain. You aren’t just trusting me to take pretty pictures. You’re trusting me with moments you will never get back. You’re trusting me to preserve the people, the emotions, the tiny details, and an entire chapter of your life that you’ll someday look back on.

That is something I carry with me every single time I pick up my camera.

And the relationships I have built with my couples along the way are genuinely one of my favorite parts of this business. I have laughed with you, cried with you, celebrated with you, calmed wedding-day nerves, fixed dresses, helped build timelines, and watched so many of you step into some of the happiest moments of your lives.

Somewhere along the way, this became so much more than photography to me.
