Dear supporters,
After a very long and unexpected hiatus, I have decided to resume posting stories. There was a moment where it was just not possible to continue. These stories are relevant even after three years. They will always be important and need to be told. I am currently preparing the next set to be posted. There is also a book I am working on that will, hopefully 🤞, be published soon. Thank you so much for your patience as I make my way through this project, mostly on my own. I look forward to sharing more Dixie Fire Stories with you.

The grant period has ended and the rough draft has been sent to be looked over. Not to be published! Not yet. We need funds for that 😁. However, it is extremely important that I once again thank Plumas Arts and the California Arts Council for their funding and incredible support. The continuation of this project would not have been possible without them ✨

There has been so much going on behind the curtains for us here at Dixie Fire Stories Project. One huge event is The Book. I am now the proud owner of an unpublished manuscript of the stories we have been sharing here with all of you. Now, to publish it.... 🤔

There is never enough time to get through all the things we hope to do so it's best to just get started. We appreciate each and every one of our followers and thank you for your amazing support. We have new stories to post and more in the works. It is our hope to continue to expand our reach for the stories, for the history, but most importantly, the people ✨

Just 472 days ago, the town of Greenville burned down. Greenville lost most of it’s businesses, including Riley’s Jerky, which has been in Plumas County for 42 years. Kaley was one of Dixie Fire Stories’ first interviews, and his business is one of the first to fully reopen. Today is Riley’s Jerky’s Grand Opening, and on December 1st they will start taking online orders.
Businesses like Riley’s are so important to Greenville recovering from the Dixie Fire. They bring jobs to Greenville, which brings income into the town. They bring new money into the community, as Riley’s takes online orders. And they bring a sense of pride and community to a town that has been heartbroken and devastated.

Recently, Sara and I had a 20 portrait show that was hung in Plumas Arts for a month and a half. Not everyone had an opportunity to see this, and I decided that I wanted to share it here, with all of you. Preceding each photo is a quote that was pulled from that person's interview. Some of these stories have been published, some are stories we are working on currently. Although this is not a gallery setting, I hope you, the viewer, can appreciate what we are doing, what we are dedicated to continue. This is more than a project now. It's a life's work.

Although it's been a little while since we posted a story, we are still working behind the scenes getting more ready for you to read. Thank you all for your support in our endeavor ✨
