Documentary wedding photography is about letting your wedding actually happen. I’m not going to stop you on the way to your ceremony because your bridesmaids are carrying your train perfectly and the light looks good. That is the photo. You keep going, and I’ll keep documenting it.

Getting-ready photos don’t have to be staged to be beautiful. I’ll photograph the details you spent months choosing, but I’m also watching for your bridesmaids helping with your dress, everyone crammed into one room, the nerves, the excitement, and everything happening before you walk out the door.

Some of the most important candid wedding photos won’t have the couple in them at all. While you’re getting ready somewhere else, your parents, grandparents, wedding party, and family are having their own little moments. I want those in your gallery too.

This is why I don’t want to control every second of your wedding day. Unposed wedding photography leaves room for things I never could have directed. If I interrupted every interaction to make it “better” for the camera, I’d miss the exact stuff I actually want to photograph.

While you’re saying your vows, I’m not only photographing you. Documentary wedding photography means paying attention to what’s happening around you too. Your mom crying. Your grandpa watching from the front row. Your best friend trying not to lose it. You might not see any of it until you get your gallery back.

Wedding reception photography should feel like the reception actually felt. Once the dance floor opens, I’m way more interested in documenting your people having the time of their lives than stopping everyone to look at my camera.

Your wedding gallery should show you what happened while you weren’t looking. You can’t be everywhere on your wedding day, but your photos can bring you back to the conversations, hugs, reactions, and tiny moments happening all around you.

There’s a difference between photographing a wedding and constantly directing one. I’ll step in when you need me, especially for portraits and family photos. But when something real is already happening? I’d rather let it happen than interrupt it for a “perfect” wedding photo.

Dreaming of a western wedding day in Florida?

Give me the horses, old Florida ranches, boots in the dirt, Spanish moss, open fields and a wedding day that feels more like you two hanging out with your favorite people than putting on a production.

Big wedding, intimate wedding, or just the two of you I’m here for the days that feel a little wild, personal, and actually lived in.

And yes, we can document it on digital, 35mm and Super 8.

Currently booking western weddings + elopements throughout Florida and beyond.

DM me “WESTERN” and tell me what you’re planning.
