Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman to win the Oscar for Best Cinematography at the 2026 Academy Awards for her work on Sinners. She is also the first woman of color to win the award. Only three women were nominated before her: Rachel Morrison, Ari Wegner, and Mandy Walker, notes a Wikipedia list of female Academy Award winners and nominees for non-gendered categories.

RIP Jesse Jackson, you were amazing.
I was privileged to cover Jesse Jackson's rise at the 1988 Democratic Convention in Atlanta in his bid to be President. It was one of my most inspiring assignments. I was encouraged and funded by Penfield Tate, Sr., who was an avid supporter of Channel 12 KBDI back then.
Jesse Jackson was pivitol in changing hearts and minds during another awful time in our country's history. He brought together so many under his Rainbow Coalition. We were all included.
This morning Rebecca Solnit used this phrase in her commentary today, "Keep Hope Alive". This is the documentary I made at that time.

Last night at approximately 11:55 PM PT on Day 78 of the journey (January 11, 2026), our official Walk for Peace page reached 1 million followers! We are overwhelmed with joy, deeply humbled, and profoundly grateful.

When we opened this page on November 8th—just 12 days after the journey began—we could never have imagined that within just 64 days, 1 million hearts would choose to walk with us in spirit.

This milestone represents far more than a number. It represents each and every one of you—one million individuals who have chosen to support this mission of peace, compassion, mindfulness, and unity.

You are not simply followers on a page. You are integral to this peaceful journey. Through sharing our message, visiting us along the way, holding us in your prayers, and walking with us in spirit, you have become part of the Walk for Peace itself.

From the depths of our hearts, thank you.
