As a photographer, I have always used still photos to share my experiences and views, never video. I am starting to like the idea of using short videos - perhaps 30 seconds or less - to convey a little more about a scene than a snapshot can do. So here goes; let me know what you think - does this tell you something more, connect better, than a static picture does? Please post your comment.
The story behind this encounter? I happen to live in horse country (+ wine country, and the world's-worst-commute-to-work-,-after-LA country, by the way - yes, you can have it all in one place). Driving by one of the many farms in the area, I saw two beautiful horses grazing far away against the rolling hills, and decided to stop and take a few pictures if I could.
I saw this stallion gallop across the field in my general direction as I stepped out of my car. I realized only a few seconds later that in fact, he was coming straight towards me, apparently curious to check out what was going on in that corner of his kingdom. As I stood there by the fence watching his magnificent form grow bigger and bigger in my field of vision, it didn't occur to me to take out my phone and capture the scene.
He came right up to me, close enough - and friendly enough - to let me to stretch out my hand and touch his muzzle. Obviously satisfied with his inspection of the strange intruder on his paradise, he spent several minutes grazing on the succulent (or so I guess - didn't try it myself:)) grass around his feet, and then slowly sauntered away towards his less curious companion in the far distance. I took a few pictures, including this one, before I too headed back for home.
