Pet Rescue in Spotsylvania county last night:

Last night, Spearhead Drone Services LLC was requested to assist with a missing dog search in Spotsylvania County for a 4-year-old German Shepherd who had been missing for over six hours.

Within 30 minutes of launching our drone, the dog was located at the bottom of a very steep embankment. It is estimated she had fallen more than 900 feet, and then slipped off a small cliff into a creek bottom below.

Spearhead Drone Services worked alongside the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office and the Spotsylvania Fire Department to pinpoint her exact location, assisting with scene lighting and guide rescuers in.

After a lengthy and difficult technical rescue, firefighters were able to safely access the area and remove the dog. She did sustain injuries from the fall, including a concussion and general soreness.

Update: We are happy to report that she is going to be okay and is expected to make a full recovery.

This mission is a powerful reminder of how drone technology, teamwork, and dedicated first responders can make a real difference—especially when it comes to bringing family members (four-legged ones included) home safely.

Huge thanks to Spotsylvania deputies and firefighters for their hard work and determination in this rescue.

This beautiful buck from Cumberland County is a perfect example — bedded down deep, nearly invisible from the ground, but located quickly with aerial thermal assistance. Moments like these make all the long days and late nights worth it.

What a humbling and incredible deer recovery season it has been so far. As we approach the anniversary of September 11th, Spearhead Drone Services pauses to remember and honor the lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and the resilience that brought us together.
