Hey everyone — it’s been a bit since my last post, and I just wanted to say thanks for the continued support. I took a break from my photography social media for a while, but not from photography. The camera has been with me through it all — quiet mornings, wild skies, and moments like this one.

This shot was taken at the Thunder Over New Hampshire Air Show in September of one of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels solo pilots slicing through the clouds. I’ve always been drawn to landscapes and wildlife, but I’ve had a lifelong love for aviation. There’s something powerful about watching these pilots defy gravity with such precision and grace. The weather didn’t cooperate for the majority of the airshow, but once they were able to fly, the lighting for photography was perfect and the wet weather really made the v***r trails pop.

My fiancée had to laugh when I showed up with my radio scanner to listen in on their comms — but for me, that’s all part of the magic.

More new work is on the way — and I can’t wait to share what I’ve been capturing behind the scenes.

A few weeks ago I decided to photograph a location I had never shot before. I was lucky to capture the breathtaking stillness of Footbridge Beach in Ogunquit, ME, as the sun painted the sky at sunrise. I was unlucky however, because the temperature was about 14 degrees with a stiff breeze off the water. I spent most of the time in between composing my shots wiping the frozen tears off my face. Regardless, it was still a winter sunrise worth waking up for!

Over the long weekend I had the opportunity to take a quick trip up to Iceland. I must admit, up to this point in my life I have never been to a more interesting place on our beautiful planet. The landscape is so untouched and vast. We drove for hours, winding alongside fields speckled with horses, shadowed by immense jagged mountains. These mountains act as guardrails to guide the largest glaciers in Europe on their slow descent towards the sea. This is the very edge of Falljökull Glacier and its melt pool. You can also follow the glacial river as itwinds towards the ocean in the background of the image. In the short time I had in Iceland, I had an endless supply of incredible photo opportunities. All these videos and images will take some time to go through, but I wanted to share the first shot with many more to come.

Who’s ready for the snow forecasted for this weekend? I’m hopeful for some snowy scenes, but while we wait I thought I’d share a photo from a few winters ago. I ventured out shortly after a nor’easter to see what kind of interesting snow compositions I could find. The area received significant snow during this storm, but unfortunately the wind was strong and blew most of the accumulation off the Portsmouth Tugboats. I’ve always wanted to get a heavy snow covered composition of this scene but this is the best I have so far. Maybe I’ll get lucky this weekend, but only time will tell.

Happy New Year!! 🎆🎊🎇🍾

Thank you everyone so much for following along with me! I wanted to share my 12 personal favorite photos from this year.

I know my account is new, but I have been taking photos for several years now. I went a long time before creating an account to share my work, but I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone’s support and encouragement so far. I have really loved seeing all the other amazing photographers work from the New England area, and beyond, and I can’t wait to continue sharing my future work with all of you.

So with that I wish you all a very Happy New Year. I hope that everyone has an amazing start to the year, and I challenge each and every one of you to create an attainable goal to achieve this year.

Thank you everyone!
Mike

We haven’t had much snow to speak of so far this year, but this is a shot I took last winter of snowy White Mountain peak. I was driving the Kancamagus Highway searching for an interesting composition on an otherwise overcast winter day. I pulled off one of the many scenic viewpoints as sunset creeped closed when a pinkish glow began to radiate from the clouds. I had my 150-600mm zoom lens on my camera, and decided to find an interesting shot using that focal length. I enjoyed how the sky was painting the snow frosted trees pink on this distant mountain peak, and I’m glad it was able to capture that moment.
