We’re excited to partner with filmmaker Natasha Klimchuk the Milan, Italy based director of the design documentary film “TWO CHAIRS” that we will be bringing to select theaters in the US.
Two Chairs is a documentary that uses the humble chair as a lens for exploring questions of design, function, and existence. Through conversations with leading architects, designers, and philosophers, the film traces how an everyday object can carry meaning within art, culture, and functionality in society.
Natasha has explored culture, art and design in previous documentary works in including “Lepota” a documentary on Russian aesthetics; a film nominated at Esto Es Para Estos and “100 Years of Design” a documentary covering its entire history.
“Many philosophers addressed the chair in their works, and the chair metaphor is commonly employed to illustrate various concepts”, Natasha Klimchuk saying, “These range from the ontological nature of objects and how humans interact with the world, to the creation of values by the human mind and even the formation of the world itself. We explore these ideas in depth. ”
Adding, “We showcase some of the most iconic chairs ever created, such as Louis Ghost Chair, Eames Lounge Chair, Egg Chair, Bertoia Diamond Chair, Panton Chair, and Wassily Chair, among others“
The film includes interviews with industrial design leaders like Niels Gammelgaard, who spent 30 Years designing for IKEA, Kengo Kuma, a master of nature-based design, and Kohtaro More, designer and master wood craftsman.
