Captured this lovely proposal session over the weekend at one of my favorite overlooks on the Oregon coast.

After weeks of planning with Amanda, we had a last minute wrench thrown in the works via a backed up restaurant. But she & Skylar made it to the spot before sundown, the surprise was a success & we used every last bit of light to capture some portraits.

Congratulations to the happy & very sweet couple.

I haven’t really experimented with astrophotography & I didn’t have the proper gear for it (no tripod or wide lens)... but, last week we were away from city lights under a severely waning crescent moon, so I felt compelled to capture the night sky a bit.

Handheld, single frames at very high ISO with a 50mm lens. Messing around with different edits, hence the varied coloring. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Give me this over a fireworks display, any day.

I photographed Andrea & Geoff’s wedding many moons ago, when we all lived in Chicago. They now have 2 sweet, adorable kids & it was lovely to reconnect for a family session on the Oregon coast while they were here on vacation.

Got to do a wee bit of (way) off Broadway acting this weekend to document this proposal.

Proposals I’ve shot in the past have all been at public spots where it would be pretty normal to see a photographer.

But in this case Adam had a lovely private tasting area reserved at . The quandary was that the spot sits upon a plateau in an open field overlooking the Columbia River Gorge with a short uphill hike to get there & a random guy wandering up there taking photos would stand out like a sore thumb.

So I proposed (pun intended… sorry) to Adam that I pose as someone working at the winery. I loaded a picnicky looking tote with my cameras & the kind folks at Syncline obliged & had me deliver their bottle of sparkling to Adam & Emily. I dropped off the bottle, then asked if I could “snap a few photos of you two for our socials” & after doing so, Adam took it from there.

Emily said “yes”, we took more portraits & I shall be awaiting calls from casting agents.
