What an amazing newborn session! Not only do I get to be friends with an amazing woman, but I've gotten to know and love her daughter and take the newborn photos of her beautiful twins! By far, this is my favorite photo. So cute!
I tried to really focus on the details for this shoot: sweet lips, a toe, some fingers, a tiny expression. And a painterly look. I used a very shallow depth of field, which is a gamble sometimes. But when it works, like when you get those tiny little details, it's so powerful.
These little details are what newborn photography is about. Newborn details--the forehead wrinkles, concerned expressions, little curls--only last so long, so we want to capture them here, like bits of poetry and light, so that they can be cherished forever.
