She passed away 14 years ago today. I miss her.

Tracy Turpen was a wedding photographer and I spent the first year of my career standing by her side and learning from her magical ways. It was a year that transformed my life and set me on the path I am still walking. After every shoot with her, I’d come home and teach Dan everything I learned. At the end of the year, Dan and I photographed our first wedding as Bethany and Dan Photography.

To this day, there are photos that I still chase, that came from her mind. I have a folder on my hard drive of screenshots from her website after she passed. I needed to keep those photos for my forever. Im so glad I did because the website is gone now. She was fearless and unhinged. The photos she took were real, honest, and bold. I admired her tenacity. For a long time I asked myself, “What would Tracy do,” whenever I needed a new take on something. I think people thought she was odd when we were at weddings. She had that DGAF attitude that photographers really do need sometimes. Something I work on at every single shoot to this day.

Ok! Way behind on those bts post. So here are a few from last year. 1 - Bethany keeping the mirror selfie alive and well! 2 - We always do some lighting checks. Also my dirty pants from always being on the ground. 3 - While I don’t always eat dinner, I will eat the dessert. 4 - A moment of zen before family photos. 5 - We just get weird at night when we have the chance.

Hi all!!!

We have been wanting to do this for a while but cutting the cord with Facebook is hard.

All we read and hear about is how well Facebook can target clients. That's just not our jam anymore. Of course, we want clients and to stay in business and to market and all those good things. Facebook just isn't what it used to be.

The more we live on this planet, the less we want to hustle the social media world. We just want to be REAL. To do what we do, and hope that the right couples find us.

The internet is so fun and so important and all that jazz, we just are stepping back from that hamster wheel whenever we see the reasonable option to do so in our life.

Fulfillment through presence, not through algorithms.
