I've had a lot of people asking where they can purchase a copy of my book, "Where The Heart Is", which is AWESOME!! However, my printer will only allow orders of 10 or more, so I would need to purchase 10 books to be able to order a new batch.

The books are $60 each; if you're interested, please comment below. Once we get enough for a new order, I can contact you for your email address and invoice you for the book. :)

So proud to have my book available at the New Madrid County Library!! ❤️

On November 15, 2025, I logged into Reddit looking for a distraction from the sadness that had settled into my life. It was a Saturday night, and I had just recently received the final court order confirming that I had lost custody of my son. For months, I had believed that if I did everything the judge and my lawyer asked of me, I would get my son back. I did exactly what was asked- and I still lost.

I was absolutely devastated. Coming home to an empty house every day was a constant reminder of everything I had lost, so that night I sought out meaningless conversations with strangers on the internet, hoping to keep myself from drowning in my own loneliness and grief. I had no idea that instead, I would meet someone who would come to mean so much to me.

I posted a selfie in a forum for people over 40 with a simple caption: “Happy Saturday! I hope you’re having a great night.” True to Reddit fashion, I received plenty of comments and chat requests- but one stood out immediately. He commented, “Forgive me, but I think I know that look… You’re going through some stuff right now and that’s about as much of a smile as you can muster… I’m right there with ya! Keep your head up… It’ll get better!”

I was dumbfounded. I was smiling in the photo, and I thought I had done a decent job of looking “normal.” Yet somehow, even through the internet, he saw the sadness behind my eyes and reached out to lift me up- all while quietly carrying struggles of his own. I immediately sent him a private message to thank him for his kindness and asked if he wanted to chat. I didn’t know it then, but that message would be the start of something truly special. That’s how I met Luis. ♥

Recently during the winter storm of 2026, I was deeply worried I would lose power. I was prepared with plenty of food and supplies, but my rental is all electric, so I constantly prayed that I wouldn't lose power. Since I have dysautonomia, I can't handle long periods of time in extreme temperatures, and I was worried about what might happen if I lost power and heat.

God not only answered that prayer, but He sent signs to let me know I was being protected. I saw male and female cardinals all around my house nearly every day I looked outside. I'd see them sitting on the posts that mark the edge of the property, sitting in the trees around the house, and even on the window ledge right outside my living room window. It was so comforting, and made me feel like that was God's (and my parents') way of saying "Don't worry... we got you!"

Anyone who has been following me for a little while knows I love . They are one of the most beautiful, graceful animals in my opinion, and I absolutely love getting to see the deer who live in the wooded area around my house.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to see the herd eating dinner just before sunset. Now that the is melting off a little, I'm sure it's easier for them to find food. I watched them graze for a while, quietly taking a few pictures of them as they ate. They're such gentle animals; I didn't want to disturb them.

Good morning, friends! The sleet and snow is still coming down here in West Tennessee. I don't mind the snow at all, but I HATE sleet... The ice may be pretty on the trees and stuff, but it's just so dangerous and I am praying hard that we don't end up losing power. As my mom used to say, it can snow "ass deep to a giraffe". but please Lord let the sleet stop. LOL

How was this FIVE years ago?! This is still one of my favorite shots I've ever done. ♥

Yesterday I got to do a maternity photo session for this beautiful mama to be! I was so excited when I saw her gorgeous dress, and knew I'd have to create some art for her; Miss Ashten was absolutely !

It's 9:02 AM on January 24th... Woke up to find a winter wonderland outside, which is beautiful, but VERY cold. I don't know if you can tell in the photo, but it is currently sleeting AND snowing... You can see the pieces of ice falling in the picture, while the snow looks like tiny little specks.

Tonight we are supposed to get hit with the nastiest winter storm this area has seen in years. The last time I felt this nervous about a storm was before the ice storm that hit my home area of Southeast Missouri in 2009....

I will never forget waking up to everything being coated in 2-3 inches of ice and power knocked out everywhere. My girls were 6 and 1 at the time, and we were living with my dad- my ex husband had just left for basic training. He called me the morning the storm hit telling me I had to fax him a copy of my drivers' license and social security card for the military's records and I was like "Uhhhh, it's gonna be a while before I can do that; we are iced in."

We toughed it out without power for 2 days before taking my cousins' offer to come stay with them an hour north. They had power, a big ole house, and almost our whole family ended up camped out there together for a week while we waited for power to be restored at home. We passed the time with card and board games, eating a lot of good food, and playing in the snow with the kids. It felt like a long vacation (maybe not for my cousins!!), and a lot of great memories were made.

This time around, I have no family nearby and if I lose power, I will just have to tough it out in my house under tons of blankets and lots of layers of clothing. I've got plenty of food and supplies so I will be fine, but I'm reeeeally praying that doesn't happen.

I'm praying hard for all who will be affected by this storm. The linemen who will be out in the elements working to restore outages, the people who will have to make due with little to no food, the people who will be forced to survive the cold... These storms can be so dangerous. God be with us all.

I specialize in on-location natural light photography for families, children, seniors and couples. My style is a mix of posed and lifestyle portraits, because sometimes the best photos come in between poses, when people are just being themselves; it's about people, not poses. ♥
