First light on Mt Rainier—followed by a telephoto shot of her rugged terrain.

I want to break my terrible habit of never going through my photos after each trip. I’m working through my archives and hope to be posting more regularly.

Late morning sun bursting through the seemingly impenetrable cherry blossoms of the quad. .

This was taken about a week ago and I was surprised to see the how thick the blossoms still were!

This was one of the last frames I took before I called it a morning. People have been photoshopped out of this image but the rest remains largely original.
At large numbered aperatures, bright, concentrated light sources will form into a star pattern. The shape and number of tines will vary depending on the number of aperature blades in your lens.

My ISO was a little high for this exposure. At 24mm I could have slowed my shutter speed down a bit to get a cleaner photo but noise isn’t visible until you zoom in significantly on the original.

Blue Heron taking to the moonlit sky.

The first shot was several minutes before the heron took off. After I got the first exposure, I increased my shutter speed to better capture the motion during flight. I was very happy with the results!

Perched
- A bald eagle rests during a characteristically rainy afternoon in the Pacific Northwest

Bald Eagles have made a significant recovery since conservation efforts were initiated in the early-mid 1900’s. In 1967, fewer than 500 pairs were estimated to remain in the wild. Today more than 70,000 nesting pairs can be found in the lower 48 states alone.

Summer’s final frames of Mt. Rainier.
Excited to get back out and find some fall color in the coming month. That morning we also followed a familiar, adorable sound and found the Pika responsible
