Here is one of the finished photos of the Hyde's Mill, framed and matted by Mandy at TQI today. I thought by matting it this way made the photo appear a bit older, complimenting the black and white. Between Mandy, a friend Sue and myself, I thought it turned out beautifully! Any thoughts?

A little history...the original mill and the stone dam were built in 1850, after the mill burned down in the 1870s, this mill was built on the original sight on the original stone dam. such a beautiful little mill and a wonderful piece of Wisconsin's history.

An update on the Amnicon Contest...I received an email from Natalie Brown any the DNR.....asking if I could send another set in jpeg format so they could print them out on a word document, not sure if this is a good sign but it is nice to see what they think of em and that they have now been seen! Here is the email....

Hi Leonard, those are some beautiful shots! By chance could you send me those pictures in a jpeg format? It just comes out better quality than if I copy and paste them into a word document

Well the results are in and the first photo received the highest number of votes from ya all by far and the second one received the second highest. I have entered both in the category of waterfalls, #3 I entered in the Horton Covered Bridge category, 4 and 5 I entered in the category of walking the trail..... I could not enter any in the category of camping because I had none of the campground or area of. I have decided to extend the chance of everyone who submitted a choice by including all pics in all categories, if any of these photos are selected by them, I will offer a free 5x7 or 8x10 of any of your choice!! Thanks everyone for helping me make the decision!!!

I am going to be watching for your choices of the Amnicon Photos for 1 more week and then I will post the narrowed down folder. Then we will make final choices and I will send in the selection to the contest by the end of this month. Remember to get your choices in and if by chance the chosen photos were to win the contest, I will give everyone who made a selection a 5x7 or an 8x10 of their choice. Thanks again !!

Hi everyone! I have decided to do something special if we can pick a photo and actually win the contest. Everyone needs to loom through them and let me know which photo is your favorite to win the contest, either trail, waterfalls or bridge. I will then compile all the choices so we can again look at a narrower selection and come up with the one on each category I'll enter. Here's the special part...to show my appreciation and how much I value everyone's opinion, if any photo selected wins the contest, I will give everyone who gave me a selection, any selection not just the winning one, a 5x7 or an 8x10 of their choice! I am not usually one to take photos of old buildings but I was introduced to it by a friend of my sister, who I would also consider a friend, and ever since, I have begun to see them a little differently. I hope I was able to catch some of the history and awe of the Dells Mill and School as she would have.
