Yesterday I went to Cedar Key. I've shot the 'Honeymoon Shack' before when the walls were still standing. All that's left now are the stilts that used to hold the building up.

It was a little breezy and the water was choppy. The best pictures are when the water is calm and smooth. I added a 10-stop neutral density filter to slow the shutter speed down to 30 seconds to smooth out the water and the clouds.

A Smoky Sunset Over Matanzas Inlet
This was tonight's sunset (5/19/2025) taken on the A1A bridge over the Matanzas Inlet. It was a red-orange sunset due to a nearby forest fire. There were also a lot of crisscrossing contrails in the sky this evening which doesn't help when capturing landscapes.

I walked around the water looking for a sunset shot. I chose this spot because of the submerged rocks. A breeze created movement on the water, and I wanted to show the rocks beneath using a long exposure to smooth the surface. Using a polarizer to remove glare and a 6-stop ND filter to lengthen the exposure worked well, even while shooting towards the sun.

A nice little vacation to the Everglades National Park. The weather has been clear and cool. A great time to visit because it's nice and comfortable, but not so great if you want interesting skies in your pictures. But that's okay.

This was taken at last light. I used the flashlight on my cell phone to illuminate the tree.

I think the best way to share the shots that I took the other night is to combine them all into a series in one image. After all each one is no more than just the moon itself. This was a rush job and isn't perfect by any means.....
