🌾 Wellness Wednesday: Let’s Talk About Whole Grains
What if one small change in your kitchen could help your family eat more of the grain the way it was meant to be eaten?
Let’s start with the basics.
A wheat kernel has three parts: the bran, the germ, and the endosperm. Each has a role to play, and together they make up the whole grain.
When wheat is refined into traditional white flour, the bran and germ are removed. When we mill the whole wheat berry at home, we keep all three parts in our flour.
That’s one of the reasons I love fresh-milled flour. It’s a simple way to bring whole grains back into everyday foods my family already loves — bread, muffins, pancakes, biscuits, and even brownies.
Wellness doesn’t have to mean overhauling your entire kitchen overnight. Sometimes it starts with understanding what’s in your food.
🌾 This week’s little step: Look at the ingredient list on your family’s bread. Is whole wheat or another whole grain listed?
Tell me: Have you ever baked with fresh-milled flour, or is this all new to you?
