Here’s a little something different for your Monday. 🖤📷
A while back, my best friend found an old, undeveloped roll of Kodak Kodachrome 620 Pan Film while cleaning out her grandmother’s home. It had likely been sitting in a drawer for over 50 years, completely forgotten. 🤯
In the spring semester, I brought the roll into my darkroom photography class at Rhode Island College and developed it with my students. None of us knew if anything would survive after all that time. It was a complete experiment—and honestly, it could have been a total failure. 🧪
Instead, these images appeared.
Likely shot sometime in the ’60s or ’70s on a simple Brownie-style camera, the negatives were heavily fogged, but there was still so much life hiding inside. A little girl photographing her parents on the front steps. Everyday family moments. And my favorite frame of all—the family dog. 🐶
This is one of the MANY reasons I’m such a photo-nerd. I love developing film, digitizing archives, and restoring old photographs!!! Sometimes the most meaningful images aren’t the sharpest or the cleanest—they’re the ones you thought were lost forever.
So if you’ve got old rolls of film, negatives, slides, or boxes of family photographs tucked away, don’t count them out just yet. I’d love to help uncover what’s still hiding inside. 🖤
