Made my way to my happy place to do what I could to help. It was the lightest and heaviest heart has felt in a long time. If you have ever visited WNC or just want to help, I encourage you to do so in any way you can. Happy to share the info on where I went and what I did. Bald Creek Relief is an amazing organization. Check them out!

I let my daughter use the empty bike racks as a mini jungle gym. Doing my best to cherish these little moments.

She’s now 7 going on 17. Honestly, and incredibly unexpectedly, this age has been difficult for me and my husband to go through with her. We’ve just been trying to love her harder when we feel the struggle coming on. It’s been an adventure to say the least.

Can anyone relate?!

I’ve noticed that each time my daughter visits a body of water, she just stands there and stares out over the water. Just one more thing about her that we cherish.

Think about a time when you slowed down enough to admire your children and soak in every little bit of them. Silly, quirky, sweet, quiet or loud. The authentic them.

As you let that memory come back to you, I hope it makes you smile.

As I mentioned before, looking through photographs helps me (and I’m sure most of you) get through heavy, rough, emotional times.

Which is why when I came home from being with family I put the memory card I had just used into my computer and found these images from about 18 months ago. I thought I had pulled them onto my machine already and just hadn’t edited them yet but I guess not! Anyway, I was so happy to look at these and transport myself back to this night.

I had wanted to remember these nights and our routine. The way Magnolia got ready for bed. The way Max took his bottle. And the feeling of how Ben interacted with the both of them.

Do you have images like this of you and your partner and your kids doing these normal everyday things? The things that change so fast. The things that, when looking back, bring a smile to your face AND your heart.

Let’s chat about a documentary session for you and your family. Taking safety precautions of course.

This beautiful momma had her second baby when her first was not quite 3. Her oldest holds onto her leg for as long as he can. Until mom lays baby down for a nap and can get down on the floor and play. She is supermom.

If you or someone you know is considering a documentary newborn photography session, please reach out so we can chat!

I can’t recall ever seeing any photos of when I was an infant. A fresh infant no older than 6 weeks old. I would do anything to know what life was like for me, my mom, my dad and our dog at the time, Lucky.
The raw, the real, the type of love that was being spread around. Maybe my mom cried a lot, like I did when I had my kids, like a lot of moms do. Maybe my dad held me more than I think he did. My mom likes things neat but maybe at that time the house was a mess, just as it should have been.
Bringing home a new baby is intense. I want to show you, the new parent, that no matter how hectic, exhausting, hard, and sleepy you are, that you are doing all the things you are supposed to be doing and doing them much better than you think you are. You are super humans now and I want you to know that.
