𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀?

They absolutely can.

But here's what we often remind families:

Your partner has a front-row seat to one of the most important days of their life.

They deserve to be fully present in those moments.

Your partner has a much more important job that day:

To support you.

To hold your hand.

To rub your back through contractions.

To advocate for you.

To cry with you.

To meet their baby.

When your partner is behind a camera, they're not fully in those moments.

And when they're in those moments, they're not capturing them.

A birth photographer allows your partner to be exactly where they belong—by your side.

It also means that both of you get to be in the story.

Not just one parent behind the camera and one parent in front of it.

Some of the most meaningful images from a birth gallery are the ones that show the connection between parents as they welcome their child into the world together.

Because years from now, your child won't just want to see how they entered the world.

They'll want to see the people who were waiting for them.

Because those moments deserve to be remembered, too.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆?

The answer is simple: so much more than just the birth itself.

Every birth story is unique, but some of the moments families cherish most are often the ones they never expected.

The steady hand on a shoulder during labor.

The whispered words of encouragement between contractions.

The way a partner watches in awe as you bring your baby into the world.

The first cry that fills the room.

The first time tiny fingers wrap around yours.

The first feeding.

The overwhelming relief, joy, and disbelief that your baby is finally here.

And if there are older siblings, some of the sweetest moments of all happen when they meet their newest family member for the very first time.

Birth galleries tell the story of an entire experience... not just a single moment.

They preserve the anticipation, the strength, the connection, and the love that surrounds your baby's arrival.

Because years from now, you'll want to remember more than just the moment they were born.

You'll want to remember how it felt.

Meet Jenna 🤍

Hi! I’m Jenna, the second half of The Arrival Collective. I am so glad you are here!

Photography has been a constant in my life. Documenting special moments of all kinds - from the big events to the small, quiet breaths in between - has always been deeply personal to me. Several years ago, with the support of my family and friends, I finally took the leap and launched JLV Photography.

While I have the privilege of capturing weddings and portrait sessions of all kinds (and love doing so!), I have felt a strong pull towards birth photography from early on. I am so excited to be partnering with Cara as we venture into this most sacred space.

For me, birth photography is about witnessing and delivering a story. It's the story of a new life. It's the story of a new bond between parent and child. It's the story of a woman joining generations of women before her in the tender and emotional transition into motherhood. It’s the story and the enormity of the raw emotions that occur in the final moments before the arrival of someone you've waited for your entire life.

Time has a way of smudging the details. They get fuzzy. I look back at the births of my own children and they are blurry in places. But each was incredible. Each came with its own story. And if I can help preserve and tell that story for someone else, I'm in the happiest place I can be. ❤️

My family and I moved to Western Pennsylvania in 2024 from Massachusetts. Our three children keep me insanely busy but are the most fascinating and entertaining creatures I’ve ever met. Becoming their mother is all I ever wanted.

Other things that bring me joy: running, gardening and flowers, chai tea and chocolate.

Thank you for following along with The Arrival Collective’s birth photography journey. We are so grateful and humbled to be allowed to witness and preserve these moments for others.

Meet Cara 🤍

Hi! I'm Cara, one half of The Arrival Collective.

I've been a photographer for several years, but my love for birth photography began just recently.

There's something so powerful about witnessing a family meet their baby for the very first time. The anticipation, the strength, the emotion, the overwhelming love... it all unfolds in a matter of moments, yet changes lives forever.

Last year, I experienced that transformation myself when I welcomed my son into the world.

Like so many parents, I quickly realized how much of that day felt like a blur. The details fade faster than you'd expect. The emotions remain, but the tiny moments can become harder to recall with time.

That's one of the reasons birth photography means so much to me.

These images preserve the moments you were too focused to see, too exhausted to remember, or too overwhelmed to fully take in. They become part of your family's story.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, or chasing after a very busy little boy.

Thank you for being here and supporting The Arrival Collective. I can't wait to share more birth stories and connect with families throughout this incredible journey.

🤍 Cara

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿?

The short answer: earlier than you might think.

Most families book their birth photographer during the second trimester, often shortly after their anatomy scan.

Why so early?

Unlike other photography sessions, birth photographers don't book a specific date on the calendar. We reserve an entire window of time around your due date and remain on call, ready whenever your baby decides it's time.

Because of the unpredictable nature of birth, we can only accept a limited number of due dates each month to ensure every family receives the attention and coverage they deserve.

The good news? If you're later in your pregnancy, it never hurts to ask! We may still have availability around your due date.

One of the things we love most about birth photography is getting to know our families before the big day. Booking early gives us time to connect, discuss your birth preferences, answer questions, and create a plan so you can focus on welcoming your baby when the time comes.

If birth photography is something you've been considering, we'd love to chat.

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴?

"Won't the photos be... graphic?"

The answer is: they can be... but they don't have to be.

Birth photography is not about exposing moments you don't want documented. It's about preserving the moments that matter most to you.

For some families, that means intimate images of the birth itself.

For others, it means focusing on the emotion in the room... the support of a partner, the anticipation, the first cry, the tears, the first time holding their baby.

Every family has a different comfort level, and we respect that completely.

Before your birth, we'll talk through your preferences so you know exactly what you're comfortable with and what you'd like documented.

The truth is, most birth galleries are filled with connection, emotion, strength, and love.

The baby's first breath.

The overwhelming relief and joy after hours of labor.

The tiny details you'll forget far sooner than you think.

Birth photography isn't about what you expose.

It's about what you never want to lose.

What was your biggest misconception about birth photography before learning more about it? We'd love to hear below. 🤍

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆?

What does a birth photographer actually do?

This is one of the most common questions we hear so far, and honestly, it's a good one.

When people hear "birth photography," they often imagine someone standing in the corner with a camera waiting for the baby to arrive.

The reality is so much more than that.

A birth photographer documents the story of your baby's arrival... the moments you may not remember, the moments you didn't even realize were happening, and the moments you couldn't possibly see yourself.

The way your partner looked at you during labor.

The hands that supported you through contractions.

The anticipation before meeting your baby.

The first cry.

The first touch.

The first time you truly became a family in this new chapter.

We're not there to direct, pose, or interfere. We work quietly alongside your care team, preserving the emotion and connection as it naturally unfolds.

Because while you'll never forget the day your baby was born, there are so many moments within that day that deserve to be remembered too.

Have you ever considered birth photography before? We'd love to hear your thoughts below. 🤍
