When I’m editing your gallery, sometimes I pause on a photo and wonder what you’ll think.

Will you hate it because your daughter’s eyes are closed?

Or will you love it because her eyes are closed from laughing so hard…the kind of genuine smile you can’t pose, the kind you only hope you’re lucky enough to capture?

There’s actually a lot of hesitation and thought on my end when I’m choosing what makes it into your gallery.

Because this year, I’m really focusing on finding the people who appreciate the not perfect.

Not perfect homes.
Not perfect outfits.
Definitely not perfect kids.
Not perfect locations..
Not perfect photos.

Instead, we’re creating photographs that feel like your memories.

The ones that, when you’re old and gray, you’ll want to remember exactly as they were.

And hey, I totally understand wanting perfect.

We might just define it a little differently.

It takes ten times as long to do it with kids but maybe that’s the whole point.

I always love when I do in home maternity and newborn shoots for first time parents because they have no idea how different their nice things are going to look in 2 years.

“I’m a professional, so I have to have professional images.”

And then I lost my craft.

“Lighting has to be perfect.”

And then I lost the moment.

“There can’t be any grain.”

And then I lost the story.

“Yes, I can do that.”

And then I lost my authenticity.

Last year I went from a full time nurse to full time photographer.

And it worked.

I supported my family. I paid the bills. I proved I could do it.

But proving it came at a cost.

I said yes to a lot.
Work that stretched me.
Work that grew me.
Work that required me to represent other styles instead of my own.

And while that was growth… it also slowly disconnected me from why I picked up a camera in the first place.

I got so burnt out that even the work I love started to feel like work.

Last year was my “prove it” year.

This year is my “define it” year.

You guys have come along on so many rides with me and I’m asking you to come on another one.

This year will look different.

Less rushed minis.
More intentional seasonal creative sessions.
Less posing.
More play.
More movement.
More real moments.

More story over perfection.

Because I don’t want perfect.
I want honest.
I want grain.
I want chaos.
I want the in-between.

And I want you to feel something when you look at your photos.

If you’ve been here for the polished era, thank you.

If you’re here for the redefining era… buckle up 🐎

Grateful for this life.

Open fields.
You and your babies.
Maybe a throw blanket.
That’s it.

Motherhood in the Fields sessions are available only during the month of May in Ellwood City.

• 30-minute sessions
• 30+ images
• Evening light
• Held in the open fields of Ellwood City

Investment:
$50 deposit to reserve your spot
$300 due the day of your session

Gift cards are available—
but honestly? This is the year you gift it to yourself.
You deserve to be in the photos.

If the idea of photos with your kids feels stressful, these sessions are for you.
No pressure. No posing. No asking for smiles.

This is me being a fly on the wall while you love, explore, hold hands, nurse, chase, laugh, and just be with your kids—for thirty uninterrupted minutes. No phones. No work. No expectations.

These are not minis and not stacked back-to-back with ten other sessions.
Each session is intentional, unrushed, and designed to feel calm and effortless—for you and for me.

Just motherhood without all the stress of everyday life.

“Tomorrow I’ll do more.”

When you’re a mom and a provider, it can feel like you’re failing at both at the same time.
But wait—no—that’s not true.
You can do both… you just wake up before everyone else, go to bed after everyone else, and never stop moving. Oh and accept that if you are thriving on one end you are most likely failing at the other.

Turns out, that burns you out.

All winter I kept telling myself, “Tomorrow I’ll be better. Tomorrow I’ll do more.”
But what I really needed to say was: rest is not a shortcoming.

I joke that my trauma is not knowing how to rest—but the guilt is real.
If I’m not improving myself, growing my business, or cleaning my house, I feel like I’m doing something wrong.
And honestly? I think I just ran out of steam.

I’m always afraid that if I rest, I’ll miss out.
That other photographers will pass me, that I’ll be forgotten.
How silly.

If you’ve been struggling this winter too, or find yourself romanticizing other people’s lives or success, I just want you to know—you’re not alone.
I struggle too.
