That feeling of falling asleep at night with your hand on your belly, knowing you’re growing the biggest blessing of your life. Knowing there’s a tiny little person in there you haven’t even met yet, but somehow already love more than anything. Pregnancy is such a short chapter in the grand scheme of things. Photograph it. Your babies will be so happy you did.

Hi!!!! Ok time for a fun little giveaway!!!

I’ve photographed rainbow babies. Babies who were waited YEARS for. Babies who were prayed for. Babies who came after loss. Babies who were complete surprises.

And honestly… every baby is worth celebrating.

If I had a dollar for every time a parent told me, “We just do minis because my kids won’t last longer than ten minutes…” But I just REALLY need to clear the air here lol. An hour with me should not feel like an hour-long photoshoot. It should feel like an hour of uninterrupted time with your family.

You’re playing with your kids, walking around, exploring, snuggling, being silly, taking breaks, letting them lead and actually hanging out together.

I’m not asking your three year old to smile at me for an hour. Honestly, I don’t really want them to smile at me at all 😂 I want them laughing with YOU. The extra time isn’t because I need an hour to get “the shot.” It’s because time takes the pressure off everyone. You get to stop worrying about whether your kids are cooperating and just enjoy them.

I’ll worry about the photos.

I’m really excited about this next season of photography for me. My sessions are a little longer now, a little less me, and a lot more you guys. I remember driving to one of my first paid family sessions absolutely panicking, Googling “how to pose a family of five.” (P.S they never did have me back for another $75 special).

And over the last five years, I learned all the rules. Rules about light. Rules about movement. Rules about composition. Rules about where to put your hands and how to get everyone looking just right.

And then this winter, I hit a creative wall. I realized the only way I was going to find my way out of it was to stop trying so hard to curate every moment and start letting things unfold. So I stepped back. I stopped directing so much. I stopped worrying about whether your toddler was cooperating or everyone was doing what they were “supposed” to be doing.

And something happened, The less I controlled, the more I saw. More personality. More movement. More weird little things your kids do that are so them. More connection that I never could have manufactured with a prompt. I still know all those rules. I just don’t feel like I have to follow them anymore. And I think that might be my favorite thing I’ve learned in five years.

Because I’m not trying to make your family look perfect.

I’m trying to photograph what it feels like to be yours.

The chaos. The laughing. The way they climb all over you. The tiny things they do right now that you don’t even realize you’re going to miss.

Photos that feel less like a photoshoot and more like your memories.

Chins, arms, backs, bellies. Why are we always missing the point 😭 No one is perfect. Social media is a highlight reel. Almost everyone gets a double chin when they laugh. Bodies fold and squish and move. Your kids aren’t always looking. Your hair isn’t always laying perfectly. Your moments are IMPERFECT. That’s what makes them yours. Stop zooming in on everything you think is wrong and missing everything that was right.
