daydreaming of point lobos today.

last october, I caught this quiet moment between a mother and her little one watching the ocean. they were visiting from germany.

we were strangers passing through the same place, drawn to the same view.

I think thatā€™s what stays with me - the way connection feels like itā€™s own language. different lives, different stories, and the same instinct to lean in close.

Iā€™ve been wanting to share these for *the longest*

Last summer I was quietly working behind the scenes on relaunching my business. I knew that if I was going to dust my camera off and take on more projects, the work had to feel worthwhile. More than smiles and pleasant compositions. I wanted it to carry more of me - my intention, my time, and my creative vision.

I kept circling back to childhood. Watching my daughter in her element. Remembering what it felt like to be small in a big world. Noticing how siblings can be so different, even while sharing so much.

Then I thought of my friendā€™s kids - my nieces and nephews by proxy - and inspiration blossomed.

Curated childrenā€™s portraits by AEA (thatā€™s me šŸ¤­). I drafted mood boards, directed outfit styling with parents, created handmade props, and then asked the kids to simply show up as themselves - and encouraged their parents to let them.

Now that weā€™re past the holiday and family photo season, Iā€™m excited to finally give these portraits their moment. More on the blog real soon.

Iā€™m excited to share that the AEA print shoppe is now open ā£ļø

The photographs here were captured during my recent time in California. The complete collection spans years of my work ā€“ a personal archive shaped by scenery that made me pause, look twice, or feel present in a moment.

These images were always just for me, a way of slowing down enough to notice and photographing to remember. Now Iā€™m excited to share this small view of my world with you.

Portraits arenā€™t just about how it looks, itā€™s about how it feels in the moments between poses.

This portrait session felt extra special considering I was photographing my best friend of 10 years. šŸ„¹

Scroll to the final image to see some of the first portraits I took during my senior year of high school, back when I had been gifted a camera and offered to do grad photos for my friends.

The passion was all there, the skill still under development.

When kids feel comfortable first, everything else follows. The trust. The ease. The way they just are.

This is why I love longer, unhurried sessions. It leaves room for all of this.
