** 4 VEHICLE TRAFFIC COLLISION, ATTEMPTED HIT & RUN - MESA **

Involved: Mesa Police Department, Mesa Fire Department, American Medical Response

Story: On 8-27 at approximately 2:30 PM Mesa Fire Department received multiple reports of a 4 vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Lindsay Rd x Southern Ave. Upon arrival of a nearby Mesa Police unit, he was informed the female driver of the black sedan took off running towards a building nearby. Mesa Police officers quickly found the female and detained her. One male was extricated from his vehicle and was transported by AMR for major injuries. The driver of the red SUV was treated for minor injuries. The driver of the black sedan and the driver of the white Ford F-150 had no injuries. It is unknown how this collision occurred. No further details are provided.

Story: On 6-23 at 7:40 PM Flagstaff Fire Department received multiple reports of a vehicle vs train on Ponderosa Parkway x Route 66. Upon arrival of Fire and Police crews they located a green van with major front end damage on the tracks pinned under the crossing arm gates. Fire crews worked fast in order to save the elderly female driving the vehicle. The elderly female was transported by Guardian Ambulance to Flagstaff Medical with Minor Injuries. The roadway and multiple other crossings were blocked downtown due to this incident. Flagstaff Police Department has closed off Ponderosa Parkway x Route 66 for this incident. No further details provided.

SBSO Announcement:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sergeant Dominic Vaca. Sergeant Vaca served 17 years with the Department and was a sergeant at the Morongo Basin Station.
He will be greatly missed by many.

Story: On 5-31 at 8:00 PM Flagstaff Fire Department received multiple reports of a vehicle collision on Hwy Route 89 in front of Mc Donald's. Upon arrival of fire crews, they reported a motorcycle vs a red explorer blocking one lane of traffic on Hwy Route 89. Flagstaff Police closed one lane of traffic for approx. 1 Hour for crews to work. Guardian Ambulance and Flagstaff Fire treated 2 patients with unknown injuries. It is unknown if any patients were transported. It is unknown how this accident occurred. No further details provided.

Story: On 5-26 at around 8:10 PM Flagstaff Fire Department received reports of a traffic collision on N Test Drive near Old E. Route 66 behind the Flagstaff Mall. Upon arrival of crews they reported a passenger vehicle partially underneath the rear of a FedEx semi truck trailer. The vehicle caught fire immediately after crashing. Crews worked hard but the driver of the vehicle was deceased on scene. Flagstaff Police closed N Test Drive in both directions behind Flagstaff Mall for multiple hours conducting an investigation. Coconino Medical Examiner arrived on scene to examine the deceased patient. Witnesses stated that the Semi-Truck just turned right onto N Test Drive when the passenger vehicle hit it from behind at high rate of speed and bursted into flames. It is unknown the condition of the semi-truck driver and if anyone was transported. No further details provided.

Story: On 5-24 at approximately 1:25 PM Riverside County Fire Department along with multiple other agencies responded to a brush fire in the river bottom near Limonite Ave.. Evacuation Orders were issued for the houses next to the river bottom. Riverside County Animal Services responded to assist in evacuations of animals / pets. Story: On 5-4 at 12:21 AM Flagstaff Fire Department received multiple reports of a commercial structure fire at Mission Linen and Uniform Service. Upon arrival of first responding units, they reported heavy smoke coming out from the top of the building. Fire crews worked fast and entered the property thru the vehicle gate. After dropping Fire lines, crews made entrance into the building thru a doorway. Once inside crews opened up the bay doors to air out the building. The fire was found in a basket of linens and was contained. No injuries were reported on scene. It is unknown how the fire started. No further information provided.

Story:
On 3-30 at around 4:00 PM Flagstaff Police Department received reports of a armed robbery on the side of the roadway on Route 66 x Fanning Dr.. Upon arrival of Flagstaff Police they found one male suffering from a stab wound. Flagstaff Fire Department was called along with Guardian Ambulance and the male was transported in unknown condition to a local hospital. A female suspect was taken into custody on scene in connection to the stabbing. Detectives are on scene collecting evidence and have taken control on the scene. No further details provided.
