How lucky was I to share the stage with these incredible women at the annual Equality Dinner during Advertising Week with NBCU?! Each of them represents strength, courage, and agelessness – and not for the reason you might think. They inspire women time and time again, showing the world that we women can accomplish whatever it is we set our minds to.

Recent reports showcase the disappearance of women across media after the age of 40. In fact, the numbers are even more staggering than you might think. Only 3% of major female characters are over the age of 60 (compared to 6% for men). While both numbers are relatively low, women are represented on-screen 50% LESS than our male counterparts at age 60 and above. Could this be from the lack of women in the media? 71% of broadcast and streaming programs this year had no women creators.

As so eloquently said on stage, 52 is the new 52 – and I'm going to add to it by saying that 60 is the new whatever-you-want-it-to-be. When we let our age define us and our abilities, that's when we succumb to societal stereotypes. But when we rise above it and own our accomplishments no matter the age, that is when we become ageless.
