When life gives you cartilage degeneration...CHANGE GEARS! I've been dealing with knee issues recently—paying the piper for so many skateboarding slams over the years—which has prevented me from running over the past year.

With the Love Run Half Marathon fast approaching — March 24th — my knee condition prevents me from running that 13.1 miles, but it can't keep me from [briskly] walking the 7.6k (4.7 mile) option so that I can raise funds for Legacy of Hope's mission of ensuring that food insecure cancer patients in Philly don't go hungry or lose their homes.

I'm 78% to my fundraising goal. Please help put me over the finish line by donating whatever you can to the cause. No donation is too small (or too big). THANK YOU!!

I'm honored to share another 24-hours climbing the “the Rocky steps” with some amazing, dedicated—and kinda crazy—people to raise emergency support funds for cancer patients in Philly. The event is Legacy of Hope’s PHL24, presented by the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Health.

This is my second year as a 24-hour-athlete and [unfortunately] this year it's personal. In June, I lost my brother, Keith, to liver cancer; so I’m climbing to honor his memory with the goal hitting 60 miles. (I logged 56.25 miles last year).

With one PHL24 under my belt, I know how deep I need to dig to keep climbing for the full 24 hours and beat last year’s numbers. This event is no joke; it's brutal, grueling and sweaty. But it's equally beautiful, celebratory and life affirming; and I'm ready rock. I’ve been training to help keep the odds in my favor. I’ve climbed more than 30,000 feet, logging 80 miles on the steps—through the dog days of July and the stifling humidity of August. My training is done and it's go time. But I need your help.

Challenging my mind and body to climb for 24 hours is only part of the equation, the other part comes from you. Many of you donated generously to my fundraiser last year; and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I humbly ask you to donate whatever amount you can to this amazing cause.

Also, please share this link with friends and family, especially if they've been affected by cancer. I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that Legacy of Hope's Emergency Patient Support Network makes in the lives of Philadelphia families struggling with cancer. It's an incredible agency, but we need your help to keep it going.

I'm ready to throw down come September 10th at 9am. Thanks in advance for your support. (Special thanks to Urban Saloon for sponsoring me as a 24-hour athlete this year.)

It was a privilege to interview and photograph Tyrone. The man really deserves better, yet he stands tall, doesn’t pity himself or ask “why me?” Follow the link for his full story. If you’re able to donate, please do, and share as well. If you can’t donate, please share. Thank you!

What an awesome night of live acoustic guitar mastery by Andy McKee and Tommy Emmanuel, thanks to a ticket treat by my big sister Cindy Roper. It was sooooo good to be at a show again. TE was wizard like.

I'll be climbing the "Rocky Steps" for 24 hours straight starting at 9am this Saturday, as part of the Legacy of Hope PHL24, to help keep food on the tables of cancer patients in Philly. There's still time to pledge your support, please contribute what you can. https://secure.legacydonations.life/BryanLathrop1

Yin & Yang. Sometimes going back to photography basics breathes life into my soul. Picked up this shell in SeaSide Park the other day while surfcasting. I knew what needed to be done as soon as I saw it.

Happy to document some the important work being done by Legacy of Hope. Delivering groceries to cancer patients is just one, albeit one very important, facet of what they do. Their volunteers are dedicated!!!

Proud to collaborate with the fine people of Legacy of Hope and those they serve.
