No one ever fell in love in the noise of noon. It takes the dark — the late hour, the quiet, the part of you that you usually hide — for someone’s light to finally be believed.

Maybe that’s why we love at night. Not to escape the dark, but because it’s the only thing soft enough to hold what we glow with.

"Strike a Pose", Atlantic City, New Jersey - 1897 (colorized)

Photographed near the close of the 19th century, the image captures Atlantic City during its early age as a renowned seaside playground, a place of beach going, boardwalk crowds, ocean air, and public spectacle.

But what also makes this image so wonderfully familiar is the timeless human instinct to strike a pose. Whether it is 1897 or 2026, put a camera in front of people and someone will stand a little taller, turn a little sideways, look off into the distance, demand a better angle or do something dramatic, funny, beautiful, ridiculous, and sometimes all at once.

Long before selfies, beach portraits, influencers, and vacation posts, there was already a kind of camera culture taking shape: people aware of being seen, aware of the moment, aware that the pose itself, like them, might become a memory, the memory.

In that sense, we're not so different from this subject in the surf. We simply have more cameras now, more chances, more audiences, more need and more opportunities to look graceful or foolish or both.

It’s been a while since I’ve written a proper post on here, so I wanted to take a moment to check in.

The flame for photography has never gone out — if anything, it’s been burning quietly and steadily in the background. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been taking time to refine, rebuild, and realign what Raw But Meaningful represents, both creatively and professionally.

I’ve recently revamped my website, begun the process of trademarking Raw But Meaningful, and started laying the foundation for future brand divisions under the Raw But Meaningful umbrella. A lot of behind-the-scenes work, a lot of intention — all with the long-term vision in mind.

That said, one thing will always remain the same: I’ll always have a camera on hand.

I’m heading into this year ready and open for portraits, events, weddings, studio sessions, and meaningful moments of all kinds. Whether it’s something intimate or something celebratory, personal or professional, I’m here to document it with the same care and presence that started this journey in the first place.

If you’ve been following along for years or just found your way here recently — thank you. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful to continue creating with and for the people who trust me to capture their moments.
