One of my dreams was to photograph a wedding in a national park. My cousin surprised me during our vacation. We had planned a trip to Washington State, and Gwen asked if I would capture engagement photos of her and Tom while we were out there. I said, Absolutely!

On the day of the engagement session, they got more dressed up than usual. I didn’t think much of it. I was just excited to take their photos. Gwen asked to borrow something from me. Again, I didn’t think much of it.

We drove to the location. Along the way, we got stuck in two road closures. Gwen started to get nervous. I assured her that even if we arrived later than planned, we would still capture beautiful photographs. As more time ticked by, I could tell she was getting upset.

That’s when she let me know we weren’t going to this location just for engagement photos. We were going to meet an officiant so she and Tom could get married. I was so surprised, I started tearing up!

Gwen and Tom were married at Tipsoo Lake in Mount Rainier National Park. I got to be both their photographer and their witness. It was a warm spring day, though snow still covered much of the ground. I loved capturing this for them!
