Me & my Nikon = besties 5eva ✨📸
There’s something about World Photography Day that makes me stop and really think about how I got here.
Photography has brought some of the best people into my life, taken me to places I never imagined I’d go, given me experiences I’ll never forget, and somehow became a job that I genuinely have to pinch myself over.
Because if you told that girl who started out as a nursing student that one day she’d be a photographer, I probably wouldn't have believed you. But somewhere along the way, I realized my creative was calling me back. Then I took my first photography class… and honestly, it was a wrap.
The funniest part? I kind of sucked at portraits. 😂 & now portraits are basically all I do.
I think that’s one of the coolest things about life. Sometimes the universe has to steer you in a completely different direction for you to realize that the path you were on was never really meant for you. And the direction it sends you in can open up possibilities you never even knew existed.
Photography has given me so much! The experiences, the places, the creativity, the stories, and the opportunity to turn something I love into a career.
But most importantly, it’s given me PEOPLE.
The people who trust me to capture their biggest moments. The people I’ve met behind the camera. The friendships, connections, conversations, laughs, and memories that have come from this little camera in my hands.
That’s what makes this job worth it every single day.
So on World Photography Day, I’m not just celebrating photography. I’m celebrating the unexpected path that brought me here and every single person who has made the journey so damn special 💙
Heres to following your dreams, even when you have no idea where they might take you.
Xoxo,
Desiree
