Melanie's session did not go as planned, and I think that might be the nicest way to put it.
We rescheduled once because of the wildfire smoke, but still went forward on the new date even though the smoke had not actually cleared. THEN About twenty minutes in, my camera died. Not low battery, not a fluke, just dead, on the one session I did not pack a backup for. I live ten minutes away, so I sprinted home, grabbed the spare, and sprinted back, except now the light was fading faster than normal because of the haze, so we were racing a dead camera, smoke, and daylight all at once.
Through literally every bit of that, Melanie did not stop laughing. Did not get stressed, did not ask if we should just call it, just rolled with every single thing I threw at her, including the part where her photographer left mid session...
We still walked away with gorgeous photos, and honestly one of my favorite behind the scenes stories of the summer.
