Fun fact: I photograph healthcare professionals all the time.

But a little less fun fact: I can never share those photos because they belong to my employer.

That's why I chuckled to myself when I had the opportunity to photograph Anchorage Radiation Oncology Center. It felt a little like bringing my day job into my side business for an afternoon.

Im also really bad about always sharing this side of my work, so here are a few favorites from the shoot. Do you have a favorite? Which one do you think encompasses the "man at work"?

So, let's talk about that reel I posted the other day. The engagement was good, but the sidebar conversations were AMAZING! I had so many photographers and non-photographers reach out to me and talk more about it. "They never knew", or "should they try it at their next shoot", they watched it to see settings and learn something they have never gotten exposure to. I did not expect that, and I am so glad that some of my knowledge is helping others.

Remember, community over competition. Always.

I have a lot of wedding photographer friends, I have a lot of nature photography friends, I have a lot of portrait photography friends. And no, this is not me boasting about having a lot of friends. This is me realizing that I don’t really have a lot of real estate photography friends. And because of this, I’ve found myself explaining exposure bracketing a bunch. Not mad at it, just find it fascinating.

I really can’t explain it, and have no clue when it started exactly, but every time I see a bald eagle fly over me (or near me) I get all giddy. Am I headed in the right direction? Are they just incredibly majestic? Is it cause “‘Murica”?

Well, truth be told they are kind of garbage birds. And I mean that in the most respectful way. You can find a whole lot of these dudes outside the Wendy’s dumpster, waiting for their next meal. So I’m still not too sure why I still get giddy with that knowledge, but hey, I’ll take the W.

Its official, birthday season is finally upon my family. It starts in early April, with my boyfriend's birthday. Then one of my best friend's bday is in mid-April, followed by my immediate family's birthday hell week. May 8th, 10th and 13th. Plus aunts and uncles sprinkled throughout May as well.

Im not really a huge cake fan, but something about this season makes me crave it like crazy. Its almost like I can taste it now, my body knows its coming. So, who of you is going to get me a bday cake? You have about a month to plan.

I don’t know if this properly counts as my part 2 from the introduction I gave a few weeks ago, but if there’s one think I’ve learned about social media… it’s whatever you want it to be. So screw it. Here is my non part 2 but definitely part 2 of me. Being a photogrpaher in Alaska. Doing photogrpaher things.

If you’re a photogrpaher, at any level, and you want to set up an at home studio, look just how easy it is! Just add a light, a backdrop, a super duper fancy kitchen stool, and whole lot of awkward in front of your own camera. Heck yeah.
