Are film festivals worth it for indie filmmakers?

Let’s be honest.

A lot of “indie” films at festivals now come with:
Full financing.
Recognizable cast.
Publicists.
Distribution already lined up.

So where does that leave smaller filmmakers?
Do we even belong there?
Yes.
But maybe not for the reason you think.

The biggest value of a film festival isn’t the trophy.

It’s the room.

The people you meet.
The conversations you have.
The collaborators, investors, crew, and future friends you didn’t know you needed.

So if you can’t compete with money… compete with presence.

Show up.

Low budget filmmaking isn’t about money.

It’s about resourcefulness.

You don’t need everything.
You need something.

People.
A location.
An idea worth chasing.

We believe in paying crews.

But when you’re starting from nothing, sometimes you collaborate, you trade, you build together.

That’s what we did.

Took a small crew to a cabin.
Shared meals.
Shared a vision.

Shot a piece of the story.

Now that piece is opening doors.

That’s the play.

Don’t wait for permission.
Use what you have.

What do you do when you bet on yourself… and everything goes wrong?

May 2023.
We quit playing it safe.
Started a production company.
And had no money

Then the industry shut down.

No work.
No gigs.
No runway.

So we had two options:

Wait…
or build something anyway.

We chose to create our own opportunities.

Since then, we’ve worked on commercials, films, and more projects than we ever thought possible.

Still figuring it out.
Still building.
Still betting on us.

Against. All. Odds.

If you’re waiting for the “right time” it doesn’t exist.
Make the thing anyway.

We really shot 3 commercials in 6 hours! We went home tired as hell but happy as hell 😭
Every brand deserves to have a story worth telling. That’s why we do this.

When we were first reached out to about this project it was about how do we create levity and also help homebuyers in less than 30 seconds. With limited time and resources we crafted a creative script and brought on our amazing team to get it done. Link in bio.
