Lost Creek Sunrise

A glassy pond mirrors a fringe of spruce and fir, their silhouettes doubled into near-perfect symmetry. Pale mountain peaks rise behind the treeline, edged in soft gold as early light grazes rock and snow. A small moon hangs in the clear sky, a quiet counterpoint to the warm tones below.

Cool green moss and marsh at the water’s edge add tactile detail, where the reflection breaks into delicate ripples and pockets of texture. The composition relies on horizontal layers — foreground marsh, reflective water, dense trees, distant peaks, open sky — that guide the eye from intimate ground-level detail to sweeping altitude. Light is the organizing force: low sun warms the tree crowns and spills a ribbon of amber across the pond, while the shaded trunks and still water maintain cool blues and deep greens.

The mood is contemplative rather than dramatic, a balance of crisp clarity and gentle hush. Lines and tones work together to suggest both solitude and quiet resilience, making the scene feel steady and quietly luminous. A composed, calming work that would bring measured presence to a living room, study, or entryway.

In today’s episode of what we did today… no cameras involved (sadly lol). I built some furniture, dealt with a roof leak (nice view up there), had an air conditioner fixed (yay) & went to a Friday night rodeo to watch my daughter rope & get a good time!
Had a midday thunderstorm too!

Have a great Saturday, hoping
To be finishing up some furniture.
How about you, what are you up to?

Interior designers often talk about sightlines. They're the natural path your eye travels when you enter or move through a room.

Most people never think about this consciously, but they feel it. Art placed directly in a sightline changes a room immediately.

Placement is as intentional as the work itself.

Where would you put Orange Swirls?

A lot of people hold off on collecting art because they rent and feel uncertain about committing to walls they do not own. But art does not belong to a wall. It belongs to you.

Renting is not a reason to live with bare walls. It is a reason to collect work that matters enough to keep moving (and growing) with you.

"Misty Morning" and my other work are connected to the people who love them, not just the places they're displayed.
