Yesterday I was at The Lightroom photographing Dr. Haley for his campaign, and when we wrapped up I had about 7 minutes before I had to be out the door (including breakdown). So I propped my phone up on a stool, set the timer, and hit go a few times. Yes, I used my phone. Not my camera. We don't have to talk about it 🫠. And I'm ngl, I didn't plan on taking photos of myself. But I thought to myself: "what the heck, you only live once!". I'm just so used to being behind the camera. However, I do want to dabble on the other side as well 🙈.

If you don't know me, hi, I'm Brittany Rivas. I'm the owner and photographer here at Rivas Images. I've been doing what I love since 2016 (thank you to all of my clients and peeps in my support system). If you do know me, then I hope you've been loving the work I've put out lately. So I get this question asked a lot and I completely understand. The question is:
Where do you even have a bo***ir shoot?

I'm ngl, I booked my first bo***ir shoot for October this year, and so far I know I want a mixture of outdoor and indoor shots. So, most likely I'll be booking an air BNB from somone local or going out in nature. I'll flip a coin or something lol.

My answer always comes down to: your preference, who you are as a person, and your comfortability level. I'm not very shy so I don't mind being cheeky outdoors.

I have girls that aren't very modest and don't mind being out in nature, maybe a few people passing by, a gorgeous classic car, a couple outfit changes in their car...and I'm like "let's go"!

And then I have girls that are like: "yeah, that's a hard no, I need four walls surrounding me to even get in my groove". Totally valid too!

I've shot in the woods, bedrooms, Airbnbs, outside with classic cars, the beach to name a few. Honestly, wherever my client feels most like herself is exactly where we're going to be.

Well, I was going to bake banana bread for this event tonight with / Gwyneth Plowman...but with no AC all day I think that's a heck no. Running hot over here lol. Waiting on it to get fixed, the company said they'll be here by 7pm. In the meantime here is a good idea of what my family and I look like. And let's not forget the occasional tile lays, ahhh the cold, cold ground.

I have a TON of editing to do: reels, stills, and bts (I'm so grateful though). Today I am prioritizing my house... reorganizing my library, dusting every surface, and moving our ofrenda to a brighter more centralized spot. Then, I can cull and edit with a "clean slate" state of mind.

Self-care is important for myself and our home 🏠🩶. I hope you have a lovely day and you put yourself first, because you can't pour from an empty cup.

I photographed Alisen Marie Ziemski 's baby boy announcement at the very end of February. And tomorrow we will be taking her maternity photos in the middle of nowhere 🐄 (really it's our long time mutual friend's beautiful property with tons of land, livestock, and privacy). She is due next month!! I'm so grateful because this is her second pregnancy she has trusted me to document. I reckon it's going to be a good time 😉. Maybe I'll go Live for a bit tomorrow? 🙈😆 I always forget to do stuff like this though.
