When parents arrive for their newborn session, they often worry about one thing: "What if my baby doesn't sleep?" And honestly sometimes they don't. 😊 Some babies decide they want to stay awake, wave their tiny arms and legs, cry when it's time to change a pose, or only feel comfortable in Mom's arms. And that's completely okay.
A big part of my job isn't just soothing the baby, it's reassuring Mom and Dad, too. I know how stressful it can feel when you're hoping for those sleepy newborn portraits and your little one has other plans. That's where patience comes in. Sometimes we stop for a feeding. Sometimes I spend time gently rocking a baby to sleep. Sometimes we take breaks, cuddle, change outfits, and simply wait until the baby is ready.
Over the years, I've learned lots of little tricks that help babies feel calm and safe. But the most important thing I've learned is to follow the baby, never rush them, and never force a pose. Every session goes at your baby's pace. And that's why parents are often surprised when they see their gallery. "I can't believe you got these photos! I thought nothing was going to work."
Those words always make me smile. Because behind every peaceful little portrait is patience, experience, and a photographer who knows that beautiful newborn photos aren't about luck, they're about understanding babies and giving them all the time they need. 🤍
