Why travel all the way to Alaska just to look at ice?

Because places like this are changing.

Standing in front of Dawes Glacier, it’s hard to comprehend the scale of it. But glaciers around the world are retreating and becoming increasingly unstable as the planet warms.

And after seeing the devastating glacier related disaster in Nepal this week, this reel feels even heavier than it did when I made it.

These aren’t just beautiful places to photograph. They’re part of a changing planet.

See the wild while it’s still wild. ❄️

Alaska really did ruin normal scenery for me. 😂

How am I supposed to look at an ordinary view after standing in front of something like this?

I could have stayed right there all day.

Would you rather see Alaska for the glaciers or the wildlife?

I think that’s what stays with me most about Alaska.

Not just the huge scenery, but the smaller moments in between. Ice drifting by. Sea lions stretched out on the rocks. An eagle sitting quietly in the trees. That glassy green water with the mountains all around it.

Those are the kinds of moments that sneak up on you and end up meaning the most.

Alaska really has a way of doing that. 💙
