What a great run of surf the past few days ! Fun sized swell with evening glass offs and super clear blue water . I’ve lived in southern martin county for 9 years and have never been able to shot waves from underwater, which is one of my favorite perspectives! The visibility was the best I’ve seen! Being in momma ocean on days like this is such a gift . Hope all my surfing friends enjoyed the magic. 😃🙏

I’ve been talking a break from SM…highly recommended! But I’ve been staying busy and will run my 20% off summer sale next weekend. I printed this 40x60 matte finish of “color and the shape “ framed out in brushed aluminum frame last week for my awesome customers Tom and his wife . This is the third or fourth piece they have purchased from me;) They are turning their house into a Jeff Biege gallery. Super grateful for the business!
Hope everyone has a great weekend and gets to spend some time out in nature 🙏

Just want to send a quick reminder to everyone in Florida who will be enjoying the ocean this holiday weekend that sea turtle nesting season is in full effect. While out surfing last night I spotted an adult(most likely) female loggerhead that had unfortunately been struck by a boat. She was flailing at the surface and barely able to surface to breathe. It was absolutely heart breaking to see this first hand . I made a few calls to friends and the FWC hotline. Hopefully they found her but there are no guarantees as she was still in the open ocean drifting with the current. Typically this weekend and the next few weeks are when the most turtles are killed by boaters . Please slow down when in the in shore waters and watch for turtles. There are so many factors that sea turtles have to contend with, boat strikes are something we can do something about! Please share this post and spread the word. Hope everyone has a peaceful easy weekend. 🙏

I captured this shot two nights ago. I’ve shared it with a few friends and family and no one believes I took it;) Everyone says it looks like a Nasa shot taken from space. I took it hand held laying on my back in my driveway with a 600mm lens. It’s a composite image, Jupiter was not this close to the moon so I took two shots and cropped in close to see Jupiter’s cloud bands. Zoom in to see them. Jupiter is an amazing planet and was instrumental in the formation of our solar system, astronomers say the earth would not have formed in a way that supports life without it. It’s so big and has so much mass that it almost became a star! It continues to be a guardian for earth deflecting asteroids and other large rocks that could collide with earth. A reminder that there are much bigger forces at work in the universe. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with what’s going on in the world, I highly recommend going outside at night and sitting quietly while looking at the stars, it can really help put things into perspective:)

Memorial Day Weekend Reminders! 🐢🇺🇸 Heading to the coast for the holiday weekend? Check out these friendly reminders to help protect our coastal wildlife!
🚤 While boating, be aware of surfacing/mating sea turtles and other marine life that may be in the area
🎆 Bonfires and fireworks are NOT allowed on nesting beaches in Florida
👣 Leave Only Footprints: remove all personal belongings, furniture and trash from the beach each night
🔦 White lights from flashlights, cell phones & beachfront buildings can scare off nesting turtles and disorient hatchlings
⚠️ Holes on the beach are hazardous for people and wildlife. Fill in holes and flatten sandcastles at the end of your beach day.

As of October last year green sea turtles are no longer listed by IUCN as endangered. The populations have experienced an estimated 26% growth since the 70s. This rebound was only possible by the massive effort of conservationists around the globe. With the current government policies greens and all sea turtles that roam the oceans are in danger. It’s up to us individually to make choices in our life that minimize the impacts to these and other endangered species. If we wait for world governments and corporations to change it could be too late. Things are not looking good for mother earth at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we should stop doing what we can to relieve the suffering we see around us. All it takes is small changes by many of us to make a big impact. 🙏

reported that 3 adult female leatherbacks were struck and killed by boats last week! One in the river and two in the open ocean in the near shore waters. One of the females (Deema) was tagged and has been nesting on south Florida beaches for the past 16 years. Leatherbacks are the oldest sea turtle species and have been here for 150 million years, but their numbers are declining rapidly. These deaths could have been avoided by slowing down , wearing polarized glasses and having a spotter on the boat. Please be aware that nesting season is in full swing right now and the turtles are often at the surface while breeding and getting ready to come on shore to nest. Spread the word to your boating friends. It’s up to us to protect the locals , they have been here long before any of us !

A few non flash images from Fri morning in the refuge. Swimming out here is always slightly unnerving, you’re alone in the ocean and often there are no people on the beach. There are very few places like this in Florida, the isolation makes capturing the images easier , I can completely focus and be in the moment. Despite the shark factor it’s very soothing to be out here at sunrise on a windless morning. I think the peace I find here translates to the imagery. 🙏(side note , please check out this new track from my friends , amazingly peaceful piece of music)
