I’m Scott Cody, the photographer behind Family Home Images, based in Owatonna, Minnesota. My journey began when I was ten, holding my very first camera—an unexpected gift that quietly shaped the path ahead. In high school, I became the yearbook photographer, hauling around a clunky 4x5 press camera that was as heavy as it was magical. By college, I was once again behind the lens for both the yearb
ook and the newspaper, fully immersed in the art of telling stories through images. A formative summer at my hometown newspaper in Humboldt, Iowa, deepened that passion. I worked alongside the owner as he transitioned from traditional photography to 35mm, helping him rediscover the world through a sharper, more accessible format. By then, photography had become more than a hobby—it was part of who I was. Over the years, I’ve photographed weddings, events, high school seniors, pets, products, and everything in between. But life took me on a detour when I moved to Owatonna and began a career in pharmacy. Though my camera rested, the love for the craft never disappeared—it simply waited. I began diving into interior and architectural photography, drawn to the character of older buildings, the artistry of sacred spaces, and the thoughtful design of homes and commercial structures. Now, my work spans landscapes, architecture, astrophotography, macro still-life, and anything else that reveals beauty in places most people pass by without a second look. Whether it’s the quiet symmetry of a historic church, the vast sweep of the Milky Way, the color hidden inside a flower petal, or the small textures we overlook in daily life, I photograph with one goal in mind: to help others see the world with fresh eyes. If you’re drawn to unique perspectives, unexpected details, and imagery that invites curiosity, I’m glad you’re here. The journey continues—and I’m excited to share it with you.
